The Battlebox is a former British underground command centre in Fort Canning Hill. Built in the 1930s, it was part of the headquarters for Malaya Command, the army that defended Singapore during WWII. On 15 February 1942, inside the bunker, Lieutenant-General Arthur Percival made the momentous decision to surrender Singapore to the Japanese.
Today, Singapore History Consultants offer guided tours through the Battlebox, unveiling the true causes of the largest capitulation in British military history. Visitors will also learn how the Battlebox functioned during the war.
