Do Australians Need a Visa to India?

Based on the Australian High Commission in New Delhi, Australians need a visa to enter India, whether for tourism, transit, or other purposes. With the arrival of the Indian eVisa, Australians can apply for an Indian Visa on this website from the comfort of their homes.

Australian citizens can choose from five sub-categories of e-Visa:

e-Tourist Visa (for 30 days/1 year/5 years): For recreation, sightseeing, casual visits to meet friends or relatives, and attending a short-term yoga programme.
e-Business Visa: For all activities permitted under a normal Business Visa.
e-Medical Visa: For patients.
e-Medical Attendant Visa: For the patient’s nurse or caregiving staff.
e-Conference Visa: For conferences, seminars, or workshops.

Australian citizens can choose between three types of Indian Tourist eVisas based on the stay period:

30 Day: Valid for 30 days from the date of entry to India and is valid for double entry.
1 Year: Valid for 365 days from the date of approval and is valid for multiple entries.
5 Years: Valid for 5 years from the date of approval and is valid for multiple entries.
