Garden Palace Hotel Surabaya

Till new management take over or their problem solved, not recommend to stay. Now they struggling to keep hotel live and operated. Hope everythink allright and get better soon

Very misleading hotel. There is an ongoing workers protest. The food is absolutely miserable, the room smells moldy and dirty. The bathroom is very dirty and moldy. The bed sheets smell terrible like they have not been dried properly, the ac is not cold and humidifying which makes the room very uncomfortable. This hotel is reported on the news for being bankrupt, the hotel itself is impossible to be contacted. Do not believe the good reviews, quite possibly one of the worst experiences I've ever had. The ONLY good thing is the location, other than that it is absolutely terrible.

The floor was oddly slippery as if it was not cleaned. I obviously remove my shoes and go barefoot and my foot was just super dirty-there was one spot very slippery that it looks like some kind of food leftover. The towel was on the inside of the bathub, both of them yikes they replaced them but I'm not so sure about the cleanliness anymore. The bed is somewhat wet somehow, I don't think it's because of the AC sure the AC is cold but it's different, it's somewhat wet yikes and there is a lot of stains on the bedsheet. The bidet was also weird I need to turn on the faucet as the handle wasn't working and it leaked! The sofa in the room smelt bad too gosh. There is a demonstration outside too, I think that's why it's cheap for such a big room but it's way better getting a budget one to be honest because it's cleaner.

Start from when I arrived at hotel, there was a protest on-going. The security said that it has been 3 months. This is a very bad impression to my end, I don't feel safe. (The mass protest remains even in the late night, they sleep there). There was someone smoking inside the lobby, I found this unacceptable. No problem with checking in. I get to stay on 17th floor, Room size was very spacious, however the room was not exactly clean, but not that dirty either. Aircon was okay. Bed was smelly, After laying down you can smell the bed stick on your clothes. I found ants crawling on top of the bed twice. Toilet was old, water spilling out from bath tub after shower. One of the night the little cockroach says hello to me. Towel feels old with hint of weird smell. Soap is not labelled, not sure which one is body soap and shampoo. Breakfast: Not impressive, very limited option. Friedrice with few selection of meat, egg station, toast, and some local soup. Taste was okay. Smoking was tolerated in some area, not a good points. The resraurant was rather dark as well. Location was superb, too bad it was bad experience in the hotel. Overall I don't recommend staying unless they decide to renovate.
