We had a very enjoyable week long holiday despite a few minor issues. The rooms are generally well equipped (kitchen has hob, kettle, coffee machine and microwave) and throughout is nicely presented. The property is well maintained and very attractive. There are many positives and the pool area is very relaxing. The pool is very small though and located up some steep steps, it is for relaxing only and not swimming. Not ideal for children to play in, especially when multiple guests wish to use it. We had a two room apartment, the second room was meant to be 2 single beds, but it was two beds set as a double and this room was very small, requiring the air con a lot to keep it cool. Our teenage children needed to sleep separately as they found it too hot sharing a bed in a small room. We required the spare bed in the kitchen making up as a single, meaning we had no ‘sofa’ in the living area. It was extremely windy during our stay and the balcony furniture had to be packed away most days and every night because of the wind. This was very disappointing as the balcony was beautiful and had lovely views. We could only use the balcony one evening to eat. Every night, the wind would blow patio furniture around in neighbouring rooms disturbing our sleep. I was awoken at multiple times most nights from the noise. Heavier (or fixed) furniture should be considered for these exposed rooms and we would have used our balcony more and our sleep wouldn’t have been disturbed so much. Obviously the hotel can’t control the weather, but they are aware of this issue, and I think this problem could be improved for their guests. The staff are very helpful and friendly, but we often found the reception closed (opening hours in the room would have been useful for reference). The property is located at the top of a hill (hence gorgeous views over the town and surrounding area), but be aware of the uphill walk everyday. We enjoyed the exercise after delicious gelato in the town. A car is definitely required to access beaches (nearest is only 5 minutes drive - but much nicer picturesque beaches are located 20-30 minutes away). The town has a few restaurants (Green Gallery has nice food), but nicer restaurants can be found along the coast. San Giovanni beach has a nice restaurant we visited twice. Be aware of the small additional charge to use the washing machine. A cash deposit of 150 euros is required on check in. There is also an additional cost if you want the room cleaning or new bedding during your stay (we didn’t pay this).

In August 2023 we had a great holiday in Sardegna thanks to our two week lovely stay at Residenza Petrera. The host Laura is very helpful and kind. The rooms were spacious and clean. The views stunning!

Very nice apartments with private terrace, washing machine and BBQ, the complex has a little pool at the top floor with great views of the town. Recommended!

Best place to enjoy the heart of Sardinia. Few kilometers away from the one of the most beautiful beach in the world, Costa Rei. AWESOME! I've spent a very lovely weekend in a cheap luxury apartment in Petrera! Cheers :)
