The Holy ceremony was sacred and the meals was hit by mouth. I really want to stay for a few days if I have a chance.

This was a wonderful stay and Koyasan is an absolutely beautiful place. The monks were extremely accommodating, laid out all of the rules for us and times, and the room itself was the exact experience we were looking for from a temple experience.

It’s worth noting that this is not a normal hotel but a traditional pilgrim’s lodging, so it is expected that you sleep on a mat on the floor and the facilities are relatively basic. You are staying here for the experience. The property was clean with onsen (hot bath) provided and our room had its own toilet/sink. Our only complaint is that they no longer serve food and we were not notified of this despite this being part of our booking, however we found a restaurant for dinner walking distance away and had a delicious meal.

I stayed at two temples in Koyasan and this one was much inferior to the first one. They do not serve any meals. The staff was not very welcoming and cordial. They only offer one option to bath at night and nothing the morning. They also only offer one temple experience in the AM at 6:30. They were not helpful to assist visitors to determine where to sit and how to participate in the service. Would suggest you do your research in choosing a temple. The price was very good and I guess one gets value for what was the price.

This location is so quiet and serene. It was a privilege to watch the monks morning prayers. Rooms were large. Location was walkable to the various sights. I misunderstood the webpage when I booked and thought that dinner and breakfast were included but no meals are served here. I’m not sure if it is the time of year or whether it is always the same but local restaurants seemed to only be open from 9 to 4.

Decepcionada.

We were here for the temple stay experience which was in our bucket list, so had accepted the high cost for the nights stay as one of those things. Accommodation is sparkling clean and new, but very very basic. Public bath is small and very basic. There is no shower available in the morning at all. Food was good at dinner and breakfast - all Japanese. Service was very good. The prayer ceremony started bang on time, and was just about half an hour. It was as expected, something to experience. Property is in a fantastic location so close to all attractions of Koya making it possible to stay one night and see everything. Although curfew after 9pm is noted in the website, they must have succumbed to the pressures of tourists, we were told the small gate is open all night. During our stay, we noticed that there was not one Japanese tourist... They were happy to let us leave our car until check in time as well as a couple of hours after check out. The staff were perfectly efficient and helpful, if a bit stiff - as can be expected of monks...

We had a good garden view, and the temple provided everything needed. Everything is maintained and cleaned well. Morning prayer was a unique experience definitely worth joining. Hot bath is nice. However, the food will not suit everyone's taste.

Thought that futon would be very uncomfortable. But the futon is very soft, and at night, the area is so quiet. That I haven't slept so well for so long. The public bath is good too. It warmed me up after a long day outside in the cold weather.

As a Syukubo, a Monastery offering travelers boarding and an insight into their daily life, rooms are equipped only with the most necessary items. However, this is expected as the monks are living a very simple life style. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were greeted and welcomed into their home with rice cakes and a cup of tea. There are no options to dine but guests are invited to join the morning prayers and receive a blessing for safe travels before leaving.

Very practical temple. Bus stop and parking in front of it, in the middle of Koyasan. Futons are convenient and the room has its own bathroom. The Onsen are clean and proper. Check in between 3 and 5 pm. Monks would wait for your evening excursions. No dining or breakfast. Only negative point is that the pillows are made of wood or seeds, very tough…
