Lovely staff, room and location was perfect

Great location!

Unfortunately, I did not have a great stay, though it seemed people in at least one other room did not have my issue. My room had a sulphur like odor that seemed to originate from the bathroom. I opened the windows but that did not solve the issue. I told the front desk of the issue and they came to the room to inspect. Initially, the woman agreed that she smelled something, but then claimed she did not and that I could not change my room because the hotel was fully booked. She offered me perfume for the smell, which I declined. No other measure was ever offered to me to address the issue. I stayed in the room for 3 nights and it smelled the entire time. I was in town for a friend's birthday and was not in the hotel much beyond sleeping, so I did not attempt to engage the hotel staff anymore, as I did not think it would be productive. Upon check out, a different person at the front desk asked if I had enjoyed my stay and I said, no due to the smell. She said they had tried to "find me" to offer a room change, but I was never emailed, called, or spoken to by the staff. I told this woman that I had looked at online reviews once I arrived and seen a similar review about a sulphureous smell and she said that had been a different room.

Rooms are tiny and cramped, over stuffed with furniture so it is difficult to navigate the space. You get exactly one towel per person, and one blanket. If you ask for another, you may be questioned as to why you need this blanket or towel. If he deems your request valid (in his opinion) you may get one. This was ok and sort of humorous for one night to sleep but no need to go back.

Pricey for what it was hotel wise, but the best location!! You can see the River Rhone, supermarket, eateries, bus and train station plus tour pick up points all within 5-10 mins.

Staff helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and had good facilities. Unfortunately both sofa bed and double bed the mattresses were not comfortable. There was also a lot of ants running around floor and bathroom

Close to train station easy to get old Town and shopping

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Rousseau. Our thanks to the staff, who were exceptionally pleasant, welcoming and helpful. Our rooms were comfortable, and the area was safe and convenient (close to train, tram, Lac Leman, dining, and shopping). We would stay here again!

As expected from a 3 star hotel, great location and amenities. Friendly staff especially Fedirico who is always willing to give assistance. We won’t mind staying in the property again.

Reasonably priced. Close to Train Station. Close to Restaurants.

The location is good. The hotel is close to public transportation and to the lake. But the hotel is small and dark. Room is not comfortable, pillows are lumpy. I stayed for four nights and three out of the four days water was stopped in the middle of the day because there was some kind of maintenance work. On the third day I came back to the hotel in the middle of the day and there was a very loud noise of drilling of some kind until 6 pm.

Great location and room was a good size and clean!

The staff was really cold and only spoke french, even though they knew I didn’t understand anything. The twin room was big and nice. I just don’t get the at home feel you get with some hotels.

We chose this hotel to be near our daughter's flat and are we ever glad we did. I have traveled the world for more than 40 years so it takes a lot to impress me positively or negatively. Hotel Rousseau provided two wonderful 4 night stays in December. The location is stellar, convenient to all that you might want to do including the train station. The rooms are clean and well designed. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Shamsa was at the front most of the time and made sure all was right with our stay in every way. We will be back! Staff were friendly and location is excellent. Manor, a shop one building over is ideal for food and some groceries and the waterfront is 2 min walk away. The train station is 7 min walk away and lots of eateries around. Hotel is visibly dated, with some internal modernisation in the lobby. Flooring is mismatched and old (ours seemed to have a dent), walls have scuffs. The blackout curtains were too small for the window letting in lots of light during nap time for the toddler. The window/door couldn’t be left open because the bars of the balcony were too wide and hazardous for falls. The towels had holes in them, shower had mould and leaked water, and overall the bathroom was tiny. No outlets near the beds and limited coffee/tea facilities in the room (4 sachets of sugar for 2 adults for 2 nights). Bed was comfortable but pillows were flat and tattered inside. Good lift service, but on our floor it only opened to a floor with one room. Since we were in one of the other four rooms we needed to take a few steps up - with a buggy this wasn’t convenient. Definitely not soundproofed- could hear someone upstairs moving furniture around at 4am - felt sorry for our neighbours who probably heard the toddler crying as they normally do! Breakfast was bare, definitely not worth 17 euros - go to Manor or a cafe and pick up something more substantial! Could probably find something better in the area for the same price.
