Hotel Indigo BIRMINGHAM FIVE POINTS S - UAB, an IHG Hotel

I love the property and hospitality was very good.

This was the worst experience of my life. I got stuck in the elevator on like the 4th day and when I arrived the elevator was down but they assured us it was fixed. They charged me an extra $537 and the manager was very rude when questioned about it and could not explain it. The desk clerks were rude with the exception of one and because i was livid about getting stuck in the elevator and the other things leading up to that point a desk clerk asked me to leave but would not let me go up to my room to collect my belongings so the police were called and they treated me like a common criminal. There were others patrons saying the same things I was and they all said this was nothing like other Hotel Indigo’s they had stayed in.

Beautiful property in a declining part of Birmingham. Additionally the property is run by poorly trained and managed staff.

Check in was fine, the woman was a bit rude through the process but was fine the next morning when we left. The beds are uncomfortably hard but the room was clean.

The room was not clean, what looked like sticky ketchup on the floor by the entry door, appeared not to have been mopped, hair left in the shower, room phone didn’t work when I needed to call the front desk and to top it off NO HEAT on a night that was 20* outside and had a room full of windows! It was freezing in the room!! I made 3 trips downstairs to complain to the front desk to please get it working, but she seemed too busy on the ph with earbud in her ear to care and told me no maintenance available on the weekends. I asked for it to be fixed by next morning and to speak to the manager, which neither happened before I checked out on Sunday morning. I’ve stayed at this location numerous times over the years, but it’s beyond terrible now and I WILL NOT EVER stay here again!

Staff was friendly. Shower did not work properly but overall it was beautiful on the inside.

I had only three problems with IGH, otherwise everything else was fine. First, I couldn't get the temperature in the room to stay above 71 degrees, and it was 28 degrees outside for 3 of the 5 nights. So, with the 6 huge windows in the room, it constantly felt cold at night. Secondly, while there was a coffee maker in the room, there was no regular coffee and no coffee cups - even though the towels were changed every day. Finally, the hand soap dispenser and the body lotion dispenser went empty on the 3rd day and were not refilled by day 5. Little things, but they make a big difference to the stay

This property probably needs better management. We arrived to a room that was not fully cleaned. The linens were piled in a chair. The front desk employee, Lexie, was doing her best to find us a fully cleaned room, but we were not the only customers that were disappointed. Despite paying an extra $10 for our son, there were only two towels. The shower leaked which caused water to pool on the floor. Despite being on the top floor, the street noise was awful. Cars raced up and down the street all night. I do not recommend this property.

The staff, including valet, did not know what they were doing. Both valet attendees were highly unprofessional. I will not stay here again.

I thought the property itself was in a good neighborhood and aesthetically, to the naked eye, is beautiful. We had several very nice staff at the front desk, but a couple acted as if we were bothering them. Many things were broken or out of order. Elevator buttons, ice machines. There was one tiny garbage can for two guests and the shampoo and body wash in the shower were both empty.

The heat was broken in the facility and the workers refused to change our room.

Excellent customer service. Staff was always friendly and helpful.

Terrible stay. The room was freezing and the heat seemed to be broken. Took a while for the situation to be fixed.

Decent hotel,rooms were a look less clean than I prefer. The bathroom had lots of hair and the shower curtain was dirty.

My five-star review was primarily due to the exceptional staff. Walter, the valet, set the tone with his outstanding service. Given the challenges of parking in downtown Birmingham, opting for the hotel's valet service proved worthwhile. My room's cleanliness and amenities were consistently maintained thanks to Angie from housekeeping. Throughout my stay, Rere and Charlea provided friendly assistance around the clock. Although I only visited the bar/restaurant once, the attendant's warm hospitality left a lasting impression. My stay was 3 due to a family emergency but I enjoyed the stay so much, I booked an additional night to just relax.
