The hotel itself was great. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The area was not the best as a solo female traveler, which obviously can’t be helped by the hotel. I will note that they had security in the lobby at nighttime that could see out to the parking lot, which helped me feel safer.

Front desk staff were amazing! Passionate and informative. Be mindful due to the location. Nights were nosier than expected ( 100% nothing to do with the hotel staff, out of their control) but still a very pleasant stay and central area to lots of great food, shopping, and attractions! Would definitely considering staying here again.

It may not be totally unsafe but the large number of homeless people is very worrying. The locals advised against going on certain streets. That was helpful.

Property wasn’t as small as I thought it was. Parking is limited, but there were spots available. It is kinda pricey, but cheaper than the surrounding lots- $30. When I checked in, the staff at the counter was quiet, but professional. While heading to the room, the elevator was a bit sketchy, shaking a bit when the door closed- but it was quick. Hallway floor was kinda dirty and stained. Walls were thin. Upon entering room, there was a strange odor in it. I briefly inspected the room, it wasn’t too bad aside the smell. Definitely good for a night or two! Close to downtown. It’s a corner property so lots of traffic and noise if you’re not used to it, but I was so it wasn’t bad. Overall it wasn’t a terrible experience!

This place looks cute in photos but a total dump in real life. Plus the area is dangerous and the front desk people are lazy and rude. Never been treated with such disregard as a hotel guest. They should fire the whole team and start over.

My rating for the hotel has nothing to do with my interactions with staff but as soon as I went into the elevator to go to my room I seen a cockroach on the wall and was immediately disgusted. I did not spend much time In the room or hotel since I only stayed one night for a show. Hope the cleanliness improves because I’m sure other people aren’t going to want to stay at an a hotel with roaches crawling everywhere.

I was un aware that expedia did not make it clear that the Garrett Hotel was not in a safe area at all. Not only that but as I was frightend uncomfortably and wantedf to get indoors, I then find out at 10:45 pm after beign at a trainning all day that the hotel also requires a $250. deposot in order to keep the room. Had I known that I would have come better prepared for such a surprise. I think that was sneaky and coniving . I had no choice to bug family and friends at almost 11 pm at night. I am shocked the hotel did not want to work with me since I am not from San FRANCISCO at all. to be honest about it once I knew where I as I could nt sleep comfortable, I am aware yuou cannot change room on a whim, but that is exasctly what I wanted. The breakfast was continental and I sppose a better hotel would of actually had a breakfast. I do not thinik that was fair either. I purposely look for hotels that say breakfast so I know I can be prepared for a decent meal in the morning, that also did not take place. finally when ready to leave to get back to the airport Sunday Morning I find out that the BART does not stop in that area earlier than 8:30am, on a Sunday. HUH? that was also a shocker and I had to order a last min $60 Uber ,m when I was looking for BART to have done that which I budgeted for. If I could ask and get my $$ back for this little experience I certainly would like to get my money returned this last hail maru MIGHT put a better taste in my mouth uggg

The listing for this property is deceiving as we booked for two queens but it was two “double queens” which are double beds. The bathroom was very small and dimly lit- not really allowing you to see in the shower. Like many hotels in the area it is an old building with smells that come with that characteristic. Additionally it is one block away from where a large population of homelessness gather so walking around especially at night is not pleasant. Overall it is an okay place to stay that is a fair price. It isn’t a place to stay if you want to walk everywhere on foot but if you are planning on taking transit options to go elsewhere it is an easy place to rest your head at the end of the night

Everything was very good, although they did not clean my room, one day before my last day of stay, but very friendly staff, although I would have liked to have a view of the patio and not the street

The Garrett Hotel is real easy to find and has a parking lot. Unfortunately, the lot gets full quick and you have to find additional parking a block away for an additional fee. For a medium hotel (in price and convenience),the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. I liked it!
