Third floor when the heater came on there is a loud banging, took hours to figure out it was the vent on the roof. Staff was great

Chena Hot Springs was my retirement celebration. This was also phase 2 of chasing the Northern Lights (phase 1 Iceland, phase 3 Yellowknife). I was prepared for motel level accommodations. Room was clean, ordinary, roomy. TV stations were sparse. Had to trek in the snow to get ice from the check-in lobby. Only 3 chairs for a room that sleeps 4. Bathtub spout running continuously - tub stained so this was happening a long time. No flashlight in room - had a blackout, safety hazard Only 1 restaurant here but food tables available in activity center. Had to eat 3 meals on a small cafe table in the dim bar with not enough room on the table for our food - plates hanging over the edge. At breakfast (third meal) we asked our server, Jorge (on his name tag) to be seated at a bigger table but he refused. The restaurant was only half full and the dining room had bigger tables and was better lit. I ordered the biscuits gravy with soft scrambled eggs. Biscuits good, got hard dried scrambled eggs. I asked Jorge if I didn’t make myself clear on my order ( wanted to know if problem was the server or the chef) he told me there is only 1 way to cook scrambled eggs. Omlette was dry/overcooked blueberry pancake flat/rubbery. The check said my server was Martin. Who was this? No restaurant or resort manager readily available so spoke to the front desk manager, Jordan. Never heard anything back. For our last dinner, we were not forced to eat in the bar. Aurora tour was great!

The hotel website/ hotels.com and a sign in the hotel lobby all shows there is a free 24 hr airport shuttle. Called hotel prior to boarding flight from SEA and was told to call again when flight had landed for shuttle. Called on arrival at 1am and was told that the driver didn’t show up and to take a cab or uber. Then asked if they provided a voucher and was told no…$28.00+ tip out of pocket cab fare for a hotel with free 24 hour shuttle. The breakfast was good and the beds were comfortable/clean.

As an older hotel, it has a homey feel. Larger, spacious rooms and comfy beds.
