Great place to stay whether you're keen to socialise or not. The lodge looks to have undergone a renovation and looks and feels new and modern.

Great property with excellent staff. Electronic access so no keys. If you want to relax in a nice atmosphere this is the place. However if you have business on Mackay you will need your own transport.

Dining Hall was close to my room and everyone from the building was hanging out with loud music and loud laughing and talking that until 3am! Also, If you book a queen room and unexpectedly have to take your second kid with you for the trip. Expect to stand outside for an hour while they refuse to check you in. The whole city is booked out but they won’t budge. Had to send my daughter away to a friend’s hotel so they could allow me to stay one night. I understand, I made the mistake, but come on! Really need to be clear that there is no exception to the room capacity. The excerpt states that we have to pay extra for extra personnel we were happy to do that! I understand about fire safety regulations, my bad for unexpectedly having to bring another of my children along with me at the last minute. No allowance to even pay to have an additional 4yr old child. We can sleep on the same bed…if there is no allowance whatsoever, so much that you refuse to check us in and leave us out on the street when all hotel rooms in the city are booked out! Clarify your policy! What were we going to do? That’s not cool. Lady and two young kids in an unfamiliar city being refused a room that we already booked and paid for, all other hotels were fully booked too! Not cool. And it was LOUD!!!

I was blindsighted that this was a hostel type environment with a "breakfast included" of a boutique room that didnt even have a bed lamp and was the size of a miners room. The price was that of a 1 bedroom hotel room in town. The Tv did not work at all. The communal area was inundated with people at all times. There was no easy access to filtered water. The carpark was very tight, small and no idea where one should park as there was not enough carparks for the rooms and parks were numbered. I called the number which is on their site and my email and was told I called "after hours EMERGENCY number". False.

We love this place! We initially booked just one night because we needed a rest stop on our road trip. When we saw the attached wake boarding place we knew we had to let our daughter try it out so we extended our stay. The newly built hotel was clean and had modern minimalist vibes and we liked it. The interesting part was the shared kitchen/lounging area where we saw other guests cooking and mingling around. We love the concept. This was also the breakfast area for the included breakfast. The Lady boss Amanda was very accommodating and super friendly. Tell her David sent you!
