Discovered by archaeologists in 1923, the Elephant Cave temple complex dates back to the 11th century. Its main highlight is a cave entrance shaped like a demon's mouth that leads to remnants of three Hindunese god statues. Outside the cave are two sacred ponds used for religious purifications. A downhill trek along the leafy Petanu River valley leads to relics of an ancient Buddhist temple.
