Asakusa-jinja, or Asakusa Shrine, is one of the few buildings in the area that survived World War II air raids. The Shinto shrine offers a quiet and peaceful atmosphere despite being located right next to the popular, more crowded Sensoji Temple. Over three days in mid-May, millions of visitors flock to the shrine grounds to celebrate Sanja Matsuri, also known as the Sanja Festival, one of the biggest festivals in Tokyo.
