1. Public Bus

2. DAMRI

However, there is a significant difference as all DAMRI fleets are air-conditioned, providing a higher level of comfort. The exciting part is that DAMRI also offers unique routes, which include trips from one coast to another.

Routes: DAMRI serves Ambon to Seram Island but is slightly limited compared to public buses. Some destinations you can stop by include Namto, Pasanea, Katapang, Laimu, Warawiswa, Alune, and Tutuk Tolu.

Fares: Prices start at IDR 100,000, and all fleets are air-conditioned with new and clean facilities. However, this price will also increase according to the distance traveled to the destination.

3. Angkot

Advantages: Compared to other public transportation, angkot in Ambon has affordable prices. It doesn't matter if you're traveling a short or long distance, the fare remains the same, which is IDR 6,500 for a one-way trip.

Routes: The many angkots scattered throughout Ambon make it easy to find them. Each has a specific route and you can visit many places at once.

4. Bemo

What is a bemo? Another cheap and easy-to-find public transportation option is the bemo which is similar to angkot. The bemo's striking color, yellow or green, makes it easily recognizable.

Advantages: Similar to angkot, bemo also has its own designated route, which you can find displayed on the window of the vehicle. By taking a bemo, you can explore every corner of Ambon and interact with the locals.

Fares: The bemo fare that you need to pay starts from IDR 3,000 for one way only. So it's better to ask the driver for the exact fare by mentioning the destination.

5. Pedicab

Advantages: If you want to travel with a unique and authentic style, you can opt for a pedicab ride. Riding a pedicab is best suited for short distances and taking photos of Ambon City. In addition to their uniqueness, pedicabs are also easy to find along the streets or at major road intersections so you don't have to search for or call a driver.

Fares: You need to pay IDR 10,000 or more depending on how far you are going.

Tips: Find information in advance about the distance between where you are standing and your destination. After reaching an agreement on the price, you can enjoy the gentle breeze of Ambon City.

6. Taxi

Advantages: Taxis are an excellent option if you want to avoid getting too hot or getting caught in the rain. They are readily available, with many passing by frequently or waiting in front of hotels and shopping centers.

Tips: Like taxis in other areas, you also need to pay attention to the taxi meter. If something seems wrong with the meter, you may want to choose another taxi immediately.

7. Ojek

Advantage: By using an ojek (motorcycle taxi), we are guaranteed to get to our destination quickly. Ojek services are useful for navigating through the dense city and reaching areas that may be difficult for cars to access.

Tips: There are two types of ojek available in Ambon: regular motorcycle taxis that operate from designated bases, and online motorcycle taxis that can be ordered through apps. If you choose to take the regular one, be sure to communicate with the driver to negotiate prices.

8. Ferries

Advantages: Ferries are a great choice for those who want to travel to other islands in Maluku, such as Banda Island and Kei Island. Ferry rates can vary depending on the destination and class, with prices starting from IDR 16,500.

Ports: To travel between islands, you can take a ferry from either Slamet Riyadi Port or Gudang Arang Port. Additionally, when you use public buses or DAMRI services, you may also be transported by ferry to cross the island.

9. Car Rental

Advantages: Renting a car for your vacation can make it more flexible and private. With a rental car, you don't have to worry about departure times or following a specific route. This option is especially ideal for larger groups traveling together.
