The city that never sleeps, Hong Kong is the place to be during Lunar New Year. The festivities begin in late January or early February and end with a bang on Chinese New Year's Eve, when people celebrate until dawn, eating dumplings and other traditional foods while watching fireworks light up the sky.
The best part about Hong Kong holidays? There are plenty of ways to get your fill of them without spending much money at all! In fact, many restaurants offer discounts during holidays—and if you're looking for something more festive than cheap eats (or drunk munchies), there are plenty of parties going on around town too!

In Hong Kong, the Lunar New Year is celebrated in many different ways. Some people celebrate the New Year at home with their family and friends. Others may go to temples to pray and make offerings. Some people will even head straight to the beach! And if you're feeling adventurous, there are parks that host activities like martial arts demonstrations and puppet shows during this time of year.
If you're looking for something a little more low-key, however, it's possible that your local school might have celebrations planned. Many schools hold events such as lion dances or dragon parades (where students dress up as traditional Chinese characters). As well as being fun family events for everyone involved, these performances can also provide learning opportunities for kids who want to know more about Chinese culture beyond what their textbooks tell them!
The streets of Hong Kong are beautiful during this time, with the streets lined with red lanterns and many people out and about celebrating. There is a lot of noise and activity, especially in Mong Kok, where you can find shops selling traditional toys and delicacies. The city has an exciting atmosphere during this time of year as it's full of life!

The Lunar New Year is a good time to eat, drink and be merry. Food plays an important part in this celebration, which means there are plenty of options for where to eat or drink during the holiday—you can even enjoy your favorite dishes at home!
Here are some tips for finding the best food during Lunar New Year:
Victoria Peak is Hong Kong’s tallest mountain, with an elevation of 1,811 feet. It's located in the middle of the city, and it's a popular tourist destination. You can take a cable car up to Victoria Peak and watch all kinds of festivals, cultural performances, and other events that happen on weekends throughout the year. The peak is also known for hosting fireworks shows every year during Lunar New Year celebrations.
The best seats in the house are along Barker Road (which runs along Victoria Peak) where you can watch from both sides of the road: one side faces Kowloon below; another side gives you a view across Hong Kong Island towards Central district with its skyscrapers glistening against night skies as fireworks light up the sky above them!
Chinese tradition dictates that the first day of the lunar new year is a celebration in itself, but it's also treated as an opportunity to say goodbye to one year and welcome another. Fireworks are lit throughout Hong Kong on this day, so if you're lucky enough to be there during Lunar New Year celebrations, don't miss out on this beautiful display of light!
