Incredible location - looks out to sea, close access to a superb beach. Kids loved the sheep paddock next door, rabbits marauding on the lawn and the little penguins did not disappoint.
Gorgeous bedding, and bedrooms have great light.
Not ideal with small children - there is a long flight of stairs to the upstairs bedroom, the front door slams with great force.
Limited groceries available in Bicheno, but the Lobster Shack took good care of us.

Great way to see the penguins at night. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Check in a breeze. The apartment was just beautiful.
Could do with another washing machine on the grounds though- it was always very busy!

The opportunity to watch the Penguins was good.
Bed linens were dirty, it felt like something crawling over the skin the whole night; I couldn't sleep at all.

This property is overrated. Booked it and paid premium rates coz it says Penguin Show included, however all it offers was a platform behind some bushes to view. Can’t even see the penguins coming to shore, and eventually only see 2 penguins. Very disappointing.

This place was amazing. The views, walkability, location, staff and restaurant all deserve 5 stars! We were there for 5 nights and wish we had stayed longer. We did the complimentary penguin show twice during our stay and saw many other animals besides the penguins.
The only minor thing is that we wish the kitchen had been better equipped. There was only a frying pan, a small and medium pot (no large pot, mixing bowls, or colander for pasta). Other than that we would highly recommend Diamond Island Resort.

Our ocean view apartment didn’t exactly have an ocean view but the view to the outside garden was nice. Bedrooms were upstairs but the stairs were dangerously designed and taking suitcases upstairs wasn’t a fun task. Apart from that it was comfortable and warm and a free penguin viewing

The steak I had in the Restaurant was excellent, tasty, tender and cooked just as Irequested. My wife had fish which she enjoyed.
The pillows on the bed were a little too large for comfort and caused a mild neck pain.
