Hôtel Universel in Rivière-du-Loup

i rented 2 rooms at this hotel because i was told it had hot tubs for guests to use when we went to use them they were cold and I was told that the ones we wanted we had to pay for them. I was disappointed

The game room is fun

I was very disappointed with my last stay here. My wife and I drove from Ottawa on December 24th (It's almost a 7 hour drive) and checked in around 9:30 PM. The person checking us in was mumbling the whole time, barely looked at me, and every time I asked a question, he had this stupid look on his face. I'm fully bilingual and spoke to him in French as well so it wasn't a language thing. We had a room on the first floor because we had our dog with us, and we had our own parking spot in front of our door. When I asked the front desk where the parking was, all he said was just around the corner.....There's like 50 parking spots just around the corner and the room numbers for each spot are barely visible unless you pull up right in front. We found our room, but the snow hadn't been cleared for several hours and we almost drove up the curve because the parking spot actually starts slightly to the right of the room and not directly in front. So I cleared the snow and parked the car. Already a bad experience so far, after a 7 hour drive. Then we checked into the room, and both my wife and I immediately looked at each other, and I say "Man it smells in here!". My wife thought it smelt like cat piss I thought it was more of an old cigarette smell. I complained to the front desk but they were "fully booked" and couldn't give us another room. So we slept the first night with the sliding door open. The furniture in the room looked more like a dumping ground than an actual hotel room.

Good spot

Pool was the highlight. The hot tub could have been warmer but the slide stole the show!

Fairly convenient highway access. Good parking. Not much around and the room was of average cleanliness and age.

They did not have my room ready at check in time

The room was nice, but there was something on the bedframe that could have been something I did not want to know…

Made travelling with our golden retriever very smooth and easy

Nice hotel

Restaurant and spa amazing

Chambres propres et confortables, mais peu insonnorisées. Party dans la chambre à côté jusqu'à 4h00 du matin, alors peu de sommeil... La piscine est bien, mais l'eau du spa super froide. Le restaurant sur place est excellent.

Love this hotel, second time we stayed there and would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay here on their way to east coast. Restaurant is amazing.

Pas d'internet dans la chambre, le wifi était inutilisable, c'est vraiment ordinaire quand tu veux travailler le soir sur tes affaires... Les chambre qui donne sur la piscine sente bcp le chlore et était surchauffé(j'ai pas choisi ça, c'est la seul qui restait) la baie vitrée donnant sur la piscine a vraiment une mauvaise isolation phonique, on entend le monde dans la piscine comme si la baie était ouverte jusqu'à 23h le soir! Bref une expérience vraiment ordinaire...

Bed too strong

Nous avons apprécié notre séjour à l’hôtel avec notre petite fille de 2 ans. On a profité de la piscine et du restaurant le soir pour le souper et le matin pour le buffet brunch. La bouffe et le service sont bons mais pour ma part, j’aurais vraiment aimé avoir du granola comme option dans le buffet mais c’est qu’un détail !
