Aloft Dongguan Songshan Lake

Convenient to my office.

Location is great. Vanke Life Plaza is right across the street with supermarket, eatery and shops. There is also a lake/park nearby. Reception staff was friendly and polite. Buffet breakfast is delicious and full of variety both Chinese and western options.

Enjoy the breakfast, good selection and changes In main dishes Everyday Surrounding is convenient. Room is big and clean. Bed is comfortable.

This is a comfortable hotel with nice friendly staff who have a good quality of English. However the breakfast could be better and the coffee especially was quite bad. There are plenty of alternative food options just outside the hotel which is handy.

Pros: 1. The staff was excellent (with one mistake, see Cons). The manager was very considerate throughout my stay, and one of her team members walked me over to a noodle house after I asked for a recommendation in the plaza. 2. The gym though not as large as a 5-star was immaculate and air conditioned. 3. The location (which is also a Con) allows for walking around Songshan Lake and is a part of Vanke Plaza, which has a combination of food and services, including a Starbucks, McDonald's, and soon to be KFC. There is a small bar called Ascription, which offers good vibes. Jason is the manager and is a good guy. Cons: 1. The AC, which past reviewers warned about, is inaccurate because it is capped. You can lower it all you want, but good luck with that. In addition, despite the fact that my room was well cleaned, there was also a mildew smell that was pervasive in my room. 2. I was double charged. I prepaid through Hotels.com and explained before and after checkout that I did so. My Chinese was apparently insufficient which is what happens when I didn't use WeChat. Fortunately, Hotels.com returned my pre-payment without too much hassle. 3. Location. My driver could not find the hotel despite providing him with the address in Chinese. In fact, this happened more than once. The hotel though inside Vanke Plaza is around the back past one of the parking entrances. Use Starbucks, and McD's at Vanke as landmarks, but it's a 3-5 min walk from there to the hotel.

Stayed 3 nights at the Aloft Dongguan during a business trip, my first to Dongguan. The hotel is next to a small shopping mall with mainly eateries and restaurants, including Starbucks, Pizza Hut and a variety of local restaurants. Hotel is clean, modern and spacious. They were out of double rooms, but the twin room I was assigned had 2 queen-sized beds and was large enough for 4 persons. All the usual amenities were available, and there's even a refilling point for drinking water at the lift lobby on each floor.

I had a 2 night stay at the Aloft. I was there for business. It is located in a newly developed part of Dongguan. The hotel is situated in a beautiful area near shops and restaurants. Very quiet hotel. The only complaint I had was that the bed was too firm for my liking. Otherwise, this is a wonderful hotel and I will stay there again on my next trip.

Clean, the bath towel is nice and fluffy, choices of pillows, laundering facilities.

Good location within steps to local plaza with food and grocery, convenient if you want to pick up some juice or fruits and nice area to jog.

Nice, hip, modern hotel, but basic things like wifi and air conditioning were malfunctioning. The area is great because it is next to a small shopping center full of restaurants. Service was slow and the staff struggles to get things going; it took me 20 minutes to checkout.

This hotel had some nice amenities like a wireless phone charger, that are a nice touch, friendly staff, a fair breakfast brings the score down, proximity to Vanke Plaza and scores of restaurants provides many dining options.

Wifi is a deal breaker. In the evenings it slows to a crawl (around 300 kbps) and is also unstable. I couldn't even download a 200 kb PDF. Mornings and daytime is just fine. Breakfast is also below average and at an added 50 RMB/day cost. Gym was not bad although weights are on the lighter side and there's no pull up bar (there is a combo lat pull down). Unlimited free bottled water is nice.

The hotel and neighborhood are great. New. Unique. Short walk to the beautiful lake with an amazing running path. The problem: Wifi is constantly overloaded and pretty much useless during peak times. Gym has barely any equipment.

I come to this are for business a few times a year. I got excited to have a new hotel in the area. The location is good with pleb of restaurants right out the door. But for opening less than a year ago this hotel already seems sort of shabby and not very well kept. The staff is pleasant and tries to be as accommodating as possible. But unfortunately the comfort level just wasn't there. The biggest bummer that despite having a non-smoking room my room smelled like old cigarettes

Brand new hotel, walking distance to many restaurants and the lake.
