Great hotel - palatial in its appearance, friendly staff - great food. Only complaint was bar closed early and room service was limited to Pringle’s. Easily accessible for Taxis and lovely garden and pool area.

The hotel was one of several recommended by a company that I am doing business with in China. I chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the New Shanghai Convention Center. I loved the East meets West breakfast buffet with numerous and overall healthy and delicious options. I might go back just for the buffet! There is a Metro stop that is approximately a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The Metro in Shanghai must be the cleanest subway in any city I have traveled. The neighborhood is a more affluent area of the city and quiet. The hotel has plenty of amenities such as tennis, pool, a spa and two restaurants. Lobby and rooms were beautiful.
Just a side note: If you don't speak Chinese, you will need to use google translate at most hotels in China and the same is true for Chateau Star River in Pudong. There are two locations of the Chateau Star River. Be careful to book the correct one.

Large hotel nice setting in a residential area. Avoids the busy part of downtown. Staff try to be helpful but English speaking staff are not common.

The Free WIFI is not working, the air condition is weak, the room never gets cool since outside is very HOT during the time when i stayed. I stayed in room 1209, the cold water is running slow and hot water pressure is bigger. Hard to adjust the water temperature when taking shower. The room itself is pretty big, and it comes with free breakfast daily.

Was there for a trade show at the Expo Center. Great hotel. Rooms large and Modern and Clean. However staff speaks very little English. Only issue is getting a Taxi out of the hotel. Staff needs to call for one. Expect a 10 - 15 minute wait.

This hotel is part of a complex that also provides luxury apartments, and includes a small shopping complex across the street. This is definitely a 5-star facility, with luxurious wedding services on weekends. Although not really focused ti a business traveler, the internet is sufficient and the location is quiet (except for weddings on the pool side of the hotel).
The staff is polite and competent, with several fluent in English. The buffet breakfast is relatively amazing in its depth of available styles and dishes, so Asians, Europeans and Americans can find something they are familiar with. They also have a very extensive workout center available to hotel guests, however, the outdoor swimming pool is for wedding services only.
I would definitely return for either business or pleasure.

Basically, I used the hotel as a place to crash before travelling to Wuxi after a grueling 14 hour flight. It was comfy and luxurious, with a separate "living" area with a good city view.
