Hotel Samsara

Pool was good, but rooms smelled misty, no sound privacy from neighboring rooms. Continental breakfast was very basic. Friendly staff and clean facilities on the surface, but area is quite dated and not worth the nightly rate in my opinion.

Nice place tucked away in nature. Lots of bugs if you venture out at night, but this is something you should already be expecting if you are planning on visiting Costa Rica. The rooms were clean and large and the A/C worked like a charm. The owners were so friendly and accommodating. There is Beach access via a trail behind the hotel. Took me about 15-20 minutes but the walk was beautiful! I would definitely recommend this place.

Host warm and welcoming. Restaurant was very good serving breakfasts and specialty Cuban dinners. Room was very comfortable and had air conditioning. Property was lovely and had the jungle in the back. We had a great vacation.

This hotel has two amazing things going for. The first is the owners, a lovely Cuban couple. They are the most hospitable people I have meet in my travels around the world. The second is the beach access by foot through the jungle. The first time you walk through the clearing and see the beach you will be in awe. So ok, maybe the hotel isn't perfect, but I thought it was still paradise.

Dirty bathrooms, overpriced, over-friendly dog, the reception was more like a big dog house, the main street with big trucks noisily driving by... All of this I would normally not care about thanks to the awesome staff who served a wonderful breakfast and were extremely nice and warm. But in the middle of the night at 3am a couple of cars came into the parking lot honking and yelling. Not the hotel's fault, but these people wanted to stay there. They even went as far as knocking on random doors and windows, including from our room. The part the hotel has fault for is that they accepted these "guests" and that the good night sleep, the privacy and safety were not guaranteed.
