The Great Hallingbury Manor Hotel

Beautiful place with lovely grounds. Room was a bit cold but radiators were on full so no fault of the hotel, the windows let in a bit of draught but we just drew the curtains…otherwise couldn’t fault anything

I arrived at the hotel at around 8 pm after a very long drive. I parked in the Hotel car park which was round the back of the hotel and due to the works, there was no entrance from the back which required having to walk all the way around the property to the front with luggage and poorly lit conditions. During check-in, I was asked my registration plate and then told to go and put a parking ticket in the window of the car, which was the last thing I wanted to do as I was really tired. I couldn’t understand the reasoning for this if they asked my registration plate and had logged it on their system. It seems completely unnecessary and frustrating. I was given a room on the second floor, it was a single room. It was perfectly adequate, however, it was like a sauna when I entered the room. I endeavoured to turn off the radiator but that was broken and I was unable to leave the window open due to the amount of aircraft like directly overhead. I went down to the reception to explain that the radiator control was broken and was told that I would have to move room. This was again rather frustrating as I had unpacked. I was given a room on the ground floor I asked if it was possible to have a room on the first floor where I was staying but told that there were no single rooms available. It was hardly a busy time of year and I would’ve thought due to the inconvenience caused they could’ve provided me with a double room to make my life easier rather than having to carry all the luggage

Room not serviced daily. No access to clean towels or toiletries. Reception staff unhelpful and no manners. No lighting in car parked internal corridor.

The staff were rude and the most unhelpful I’ve come across. The car park has no lighting and is a far away from the entrance down a pathway with steps. The same in the corridor in hotel no lights look like a money saving scheme.

The hotel staffs were professional,polite and very caring.The hotel itself was well looked after and extremely NEAT.

We knew the hotel was under refurbishment when we booked so the restaurant would be closed, this wasn’t an issue for us as we were not arriving until 7pm and we had to check in at the airport at 4am. What we didn’t expect was for there to be no hot water! On arrival we wanted a shower and was told the water just needed to run through. It was clear there was an issue so the young lady in reception called through to the manager. Apparently they had had a plumber out and the water tank had been emptied and refilled at 3pm. They expected water to be hot after a few hours. We tried the water again at 9.30 and it was still freezing. As we had to be at the airport by 4am we got up extra early to grab a shower and the water was still freezing! On checking out of the hotel, the young man explained that the water was broken for the whole side of hotel we were in and we would receive some sort of refund. Had we been alerted it was only our side of hotel, we would have requested or at the very least expected a move to different room The hotel is now not responding to Expedia who we booked through. They also had my address and have not contacted. Appalling service from the hotel. This hotel is in a prime position and would have been perfect for anyone wanting an overnight stay before a flight but give the service from management, this would be the last hotel I would recommend. For the record, I am expecting a full refund and will not be letting the matter drop

Reception is being revamped and not at all functional. The lodge room was also a bit basic, but functional. Will probably give this hotel a miss next time and try another. Also, under flight path!

The property was undergoing renovations but the room was boiling hot with no thermostat to turn radiator down/off. The bed was the worst I have encountered with springs poking out all over. We barely slept!

Beautiful place. Brilliant staff. Parking convenient and inexpensive. Property is Near airport but taxi was expensive. Next time will try to get airport accomodation for more convenience and will cost as mich if I get an early deal!

Very disappointed no bar, restaurant or food options.

We stayed for a stop over before an early flight. Host was nice enough. Room was freezing,radiator hadn't been turned on so it took forever to warm up. Very noisy due yo close proximity to reception and a guest was complaining very loudly at the receptionist at 10pm. Bed was alright. Tv didn't work.

Stayed for 1 night- secure parking, clean room and we were greeted by a really friendly receptionist. Price was good, would definitely recommend!

Our floor and bedside table was dirty with biscuits crumps

Room was like an oven, radiator full on... £3.75 for bottle of coke zero was a bit steep.

Nice hotel.lots of parking. Very close to Stansted Airport so expect noise from planes but I didn't notice that after a while . Comfortable and clean .

I have stayed here a few times and have found it comfortable and clean . Plenty of parking too. Check in is quick and staff helpful and friendly.

Lovely hotel, Great location, arrived very late , Early morning flight ,Tea and coffee biscuit in the room , Great shower, building and surround gorgeous spot on, breakfast superb, Liam on nightshift was a very helpful happy man very Efficient and give good directions for nice wee walk and bus options next morning, Poppy also very helpful and polite to thanks
