Friendly and helpful staff in all departments. Good food options and plenty of choice. Superb breakfast. Overall, excellent value for money.

We enjoyed our stay and the hotel was well placed for our short 2 night visit to Barnard Castle.. The staff were helpful and friendly and the bed was comfortable.

Staff were lovely and breakfast very good. The hotel needs a deep clean specially the carpets. Requires a paint job. The bed wasn't comfortable for me. Bathroom needs a makeover.

It was advertised as dog friendly but they were not allowed. I didn't stay.

It was straightforward ans what I expected. Staff met on arrival and at breakfast were charming and helpful.

Stopped here for an overnight stay on route back from Scotland. Amazing helpful and friendly staff. Lucy and Matthew very efficient. Chef catered for my wife's allergies and used her own lactose free cheese in the evening meal. Evening meal was very good as was breakfast. 15 min walk into town where we found the chocolate fayre shop, which also did allergy optons. Our bed was a bit soft for us, but we slept well.

Friendly staff, made to feel welcome from the start and everything you would expect in the room, would definitely stay at The Redwell Inn again.

The Staff made this stay!!

Booked for a cheaper option when attending a wedding at Runa Farm. They quickly turned our room around so we could check in early and get ready. Staff were incredibly polite and friendly. Breakfast was included with our booking which was great with wonderful service! Room had tea/coffee and a much needed fan.

The staff were very attentive and had a great sense of humour. Evening meal exceeded expectations and breakfast was hot tasty and locally sourced. Will definitely be revisiting.

For the price it needs a huge update

Staff, food and room were great. Friendly place, enjoyable stay.

The Redwell Inn sits a short drive or a 15 minute walk away from the town centre and although the kitchen was closed for our visit the bedrooms were in use. The bedroom was adequete, nothing special and perhaps in need of a bit or TLC. Beds were very soft, not the best I’ve slept on however bed linen and towels were good. A good range of eateries are available a short walk away in the town of Barnard Castle.

The kitchen, restaurant and bar were not open for the date of our visit so no review of food or the public areas can be given. The accommodation however was made available. This of course meant that breakfast could not be reviewed as it was also not available. The closure was temporary but did impact our visit somewhat. My review feeling is that we should have been informed in advance as the closure was planned. The bedroom was ok, nothing special and in need of a bit or TLC. Beds were OK, not the best I’ve slept on however bed linen and towels were good. For the evening meal we walked into town and had a great meal and we arranged breakfast there for ourselves. We would normally have eaten at the place we were staying in but other good eateries are available in Barnard Castle

Arrived to find notes on both doors saying the establishment was closed due to refurbishment was not a good start. Telephoned the establishment to be told they were honouring overnight guests, thankfully. Side door was duly unlocked and we were led to reception where we were told the floor in the kitchen was being replaced so there would be no breakfast which was included in our room rate. Gareth, the member of staff dealing with check in, was going through this routine with other people checking in after us. Hotels.com responded well to this inconvenience and we thank Hotels.com for their response. The bedroom was ok, nothing special and in need of a bit or TLC. Beds were OK, not the best I’ve slept on however bed linen and towels were good. For the evening meal we walked into town as the Inn was not cooking and had a great meal and we arranged breakfast there ourselves.

The staff at the Three Horseshoes informed us that every year during The Applebey Horse Fair the Red Well Inn closes, this would be useful information for booking sites. I will be avoiding not only the Red Well Inn but also other Buckley Taverns, this experience was thoroughly unacceptable.
