Visiting a friend who lives in le Berry, I took a room at le Château de Chissay. It’s an amazing aspect of French tourism, to be able to spend an evening lodging, dining and drinking in French history. This particular property was constructed during the 1400s, apparently, under the rule of Charles the 7th. The rooms are fascinating, replete with artifacts from long before our time. My room was at the top of one of the towers; watch your step ascending the very old spiral stairwell. And then of course, the restaurant, a highlight of the evening. For the entrée, foie gras de canard et poulette “Racan”. The plat principal was a râble de bunny which was fabulous. Next morning I had their breakfast buffet on the terrace, a great way to start the day.

What a wonderful place to stay! A dream chateau, with wonderful staff, and a fabulous breakfast! A memory to treasure and continuously revive for the rest of our lives! A peak experience!

Amazing memories from our stay at this chateau. We had the swimming pool apartment, and then moved in the chateau the next night. Should I mention also an unforgettable dinner? ...great service, atmosphere was classy, elegant, great menu options for food and wines. I would come back in a heart beat.

Less than mediocre food for premium prices, a big dissapointment. Hotel room was fine but shower is missing, only a bath available. The swimming pool is nice but charging €8 for a can of soda or beer is ridiculous.

Very beautiful château and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are nice and spacious. We look forward to try the room with a dungeon in the future. The breakfast is amazing. We were very well taken care of. Highly recommended.
