Some reviews on here may put you off but worry not this is a lovely hotel and you will (probably) really enjoy your stay. The hotel was busy despite being in a rather remote location but it was probably because it is a convenient location when you are driving around France for a month as we are. There is a slightly faded chic about the eccentric decor but the hotel is clean and clearly much loved by the excellent and hard working hosts. The rooms are absolutely superb and well appointed. Ours had a whirlpool bath (which they stretched to being hot on booking.com) and a sunny private garden. We had breakfast and dinner and it was simple but elegant in the way that only the French can do with a focus on the highest quality ingredients prepared by someone with a bit of genius. The whole stay was such a pleasant interlude in our trip and I strongly recommend you try the dinner if you are staying here. There is some good advice in the negative reviews. It says make sure you read the rules. This is the only place this wonderful hotel let’s itself down. In a quality hotel like this there is no place for a €10 corkage charge for opening a bottle of wine I have bought and would like to drink in an expensive hotel room I am paying a premium rate for. They should remove this silly charge immediately. They should also remove all the silly commentary about being charged €5 or €100 for misusing the mini bar fridge with smelly food. If this is the first thing you read on arrival then you could easily think you’ve arrived in fawlty towers and it could spoil the enjoyment of a quality hotel.

What a nightmare experience in a so called luxury hotel with corresponding prices. I wonder how they made it in the Les Collectioneurs hotel book, which usually have quite a good selection. I travel a lot - adequate pricing for service, friendliness, room quality would be tops 79eur but it costs 3-5 times more and I’d still prefer the simplicity and cleanliness of an Eco Ibis hotel. Dinner is nothing special but costs 49 eur per person. The list of extras is extensive and enormously costly - be aware. I recommend to read all bad reviews as they are true if you don’t follow the rules of this unfriendly, righteous host. But maybe you get lucky as some other guests. If you ask me the rooms and communal areas are run-down, the pool small and dirty… I’d recommend not to check it for yourself but go somewhere else better and closer to interesting places. There is truly nothing around.

The hotel was our nightmare experience. Expensive food and rooms in a run-down house called “Chateau”. Internet with 0,5MB download not usable and be award everything costs extra e.g. 2nd coffee in the morning. On top unfriendly arrogant stuff besides the old lady.

Terrible stay in this Hotel. It is the total opposite of what the homepage is promising. The owners have absolutely no taste and feeling for an environment you want to spend your time at. Cheap and broken furniture. The most ugly and styleless Hotel Room we have ever booked. EVER! Absolutely no Chateau or Abbaye feeling. But there was a list of prices you have to pay when you break something and leave the room dirty. At least THAT list was in a golden frame. The only little bright spot in that ugly suite. But well ok... An ugly, dirty suite without warm water for 205,- Euro per night is one thing. But the worst: The owners behaviour was in no way acceptable. Unfriendly, sarcastic, lying in our faces about prices. When arriving at the reception we found the owners wife in an argument with other guests. The same one day later. At least we weren`t alone with our problems.

We were so happy when we booked a Suite for 2 nights. The Homepage looked amazing and promising but that stay turned out to be a total nightmare! We had a suite for 210 Euro per night. So much money - That has to be great hotel we thought. But that suite was... Oh wow, I still can't find the right words. We travel a lot and NEVER experienced something like that. Just take a look at that pictures - they say it all. First of all: It was dirty! The toilett had brown water in it, spider webs on the walls. You couldn't close the bathroom door or ANY door. The location was nothing like a Chateau or Abbaye. We decided to talk to the owner, a middle aged Lady. She was not in the mood to talk to us. After I starded explaining that this is not what we expected, she laughed and rolled her eyes. And her exact words were: "You are free to go. But you paied already, so..." And then she laughed again. At one point she became so loud and aggressiv that other guests tried to calm her down and one men whispered to me: "It's not her friendly week." She told me that we should be glad that her husband (The Chef) isn't here, because he would not stay this friendly. Somehow we managed to make the best out of this stay. The Pool was nice so we spend our time there. After we left the place we stayed in REAL Chateaus with beautiful rooms for less than half the price.
