The Domicil Hotel Frankfurt City

Good location near train station. Not most exciting place but safe clean and good for business

I go to Frankfurt at least twice a year for research at one of the museums, and have stayed at the Domicil on each trip since 2009. The Domicil has gone through several ownership changes during this time but incredibly has kept its unique and charming sensibility, including maintaining much of its historic interior and exterior architecture while updating the very comfortable rooms. The staff is friendly and accommodating without being "corporate." Since I am working when in Frankfurt, I especially appreciate that Frühstück begins at 06:30. The Bahnhofsviertel is like many business-oriented cities in Germany, with excellent and questionable blocks, so just use normal urban alertness and you'll have a true experience of Frankfurt. In addition to all types of cuisine nearby (the vegan burgers at Der Fette Bulle around the corner are my favorite), a new Tegut grocery store with many fresh and healthy foods has opened around the corner. The hotel is very convenient to the museum district just across the pedestrian bridge to the Schaumainkai (where you can sometimes catch a street festival or the Flohmarkt) and makes a nice walking loop back across the Eiserner Steg through the old city and the shopping district. You can also catch all the public transportation (trams, buses and the U- and S-Bahn) and of course it is just steps back to the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. I truly appreciate the personality and convenience of the Domicil and look forward to my next visit.
