Incredible stay in the penthouse. Weekday stay, very calm and clean hotel with unique and artsy minimalist design. Great lighting! Breakfast was top notch and the service staff was super kind. Can't recommend highly enough- thanks Wilmina.

We had a fabulous and relaxing time at Wilmina hotel, the spaces were comfortable and elegant, the bed was perfect with customisable pillow options, the amenities were well thought out and excellent quality, esp. the sauna and roof pool/gym. The hotel architecture was unusual and thought provoking- very apt for Berlin! Unfortunately the main restaurant was closed while we stayed but we had the excellent breakfasts and ate at the cafe Lotto for a nourishing lunch. Explored the area for food in the evenings and found some gems, transport was easy for central Berlin and Potsdam. What a good experience overall.

Very nice hotel with quiet interior yards (although the second one could be a bit nicer) you can sit outside in the shade in summer. They have a comfortable lounge area inside with free tea, coffee fruit and a fridge on honesty basis.
The whole building is a former womens prison and you do get a feel for it in the open corridors leading to the rooms. Three former cells have been combined into a hotel bedroom which was good enough for us but not super spacious - ok for a tourist if you want to explore Berlin anyway. At first I was a bit worried that the open corridor might be super noisy at night - but none at all. Thick doors (and thick prison building walls) kept everything quiet.
The next tube station is a bit of a walk, so depending of where you want to go in Berlin it may not be the best location, but the surrounding area also offered quite a lot to explore for us.
Staff was very friendly and welcoming, breakfast was great but a bit crowded when we came.

Fantastic hotel converted from a prison. An oasis in the midst of Charlottenburg. Tastefully renovated - simple, clean and elegant. Staff were super helpful and friendly. No air conditioning but fans in the room. A small pool on the roof which was great to come back to in the afternoon. Highly highly recommend.

+ Elegantly designed hotel in a unique setting. Every detail was thought of.
+ Nothing but peace and quiet once you walk into the courtyard. The hotel garden is a wonderfull place to have your morning coffee of afternoon wine.
+ Super friendly staff!
+ Location wise it probably wouldn't be my number one choice for first-time visitors to Berlin. However, if you've been to Berlin a couple of times, like us, Wilmina is the perfect base for exploring the city and its diverse neigbourhoods. We absolutely loved getting to know Charlottenburg a little bit better.
+ We'll be back!
- The room temperature can get really hot and there's no way to get the heat out as you're sleeping in a converted prison cell with thick walls and relatively small windows. Although we loved the cosiness of the room and its design, I would really recommend taking a room with AC during summer months. The old cell rooms only have a fan, which basically only blows the warm air around.
