Hotel Aska

Excellent stay! My only complaint would be that the ice around the parking lot area was very slippery and could have used some salt to make it safer.

Great hotel if you’re staying in the Reykjavik area. It is extremely close to the downtown area, probably a 20 minute walk. If you go during winter, bring good shoes for ice as it may be difficult to clean the ice and it can be a bit slippery. The hotel does offer free parking, but it it is first come first serve, so keep that in mind! All in all, Aska hotel was great and very prompt in their message with all the details on how to get there and have access to the hotel itself.

The room was large and clean and warm with a nice bathroom, there were no staff about and it wasn't easy to enter the building (you have to use a small keypad on the door handle as the touchscreen doesn't work) There is a kettle, and cheap coffee but not tea bags. Towels and soap were provided. Compared to other places in Reykjavik its quite a good price.

Other than the bathroom flooding, Hotel Aska was a nice, clean, convenient location for the night.

Clean and comfortable in a quiet area, easy access to transport or on foot. Nice coffee shop and bakery across the road. Easy self check-in and coded entry system.

Even with no contact with any staff the experience was very pleasant.

The hotel was really clean, but quite few things to improve: firstly NO STAFF AT ALL and the entrance had a code black in black that it goes unnoticed. I ran into quite a few travellers looking to get a card. Yes - email received but no details where the pin code was to get in. Secondly, my room was next to open air and the letter at the door would fly away and we almost never got any morning coffee since cleaning staff wouldn’t know that we had no coffee in the room. It would have been nice to have someone to let you in and explain these things. Would have been waiting in the cold outside if nobody gets in in front door. Not sure why there was an “useless” lobby with no guidance or pamphlets. Other than those annoying details, the hotel was very clean and new.

Overall - the room was comfortable, and a good size. The check-in was simple and the room was easy to find. The bathroom was lovely and was a much higher standard finish than the bedroom. A fridge was supplied but some forks and spoons would have been better than 2 wooden stirrers. The shower was lovely - but the door is too small which results in the bathroom flooding and the lobby is very nicely designed - the rest of the hotel is not of the same standard.

Check in is a nightmare if you are flying in from the states and arrive early. There is no attendant and the lobby is basically a waiting area. Most of the times the codes do not work until your check in time and even though this property does list as a pay at property - it does not work that way. That said, the rooms were lovely if a bit stuffy and warm. There is not daily maid service and your trash does pile up.

The bathroom was badly designed. Shower area is not a full enclosure and the shower floor was not slanted toward the drain so the water flowed outside the shower areas. The sink was so small and the mirror and the tray in front of the mirror was in the way that you cannot even wash your face without hitting the tray in front of the mirror. Whoever designed that bathroom was a bone head. Not fully thought of and never used what he has designed.

Comfortable and convenient space in downtown. It was easy to find parking and walk everywhere we needed to go. The code wasn't working when we arrived, but Hotel Aska was quick to answer the phone and solve the issue. Overall, it's a great place to stay.

Customer service was incredible. We arrived really late at night and I couldn't find the access code. I reluctantly phoned and was surprised and how quickly it was answered. The room was also very clean and great to have parking available. Ive booked to stay again!

E check in is a joke

We called the property twice because the code wouldn’t work when we first checked in and after we got back from dinner. They answered the phone service number quick, but still shouldn’t have happened especially not twice. Overall though, room was clean and nice. Great view.

Weird never seeing staff but lovely rooms. Area was convenient for dining and grocery store.

No front desk staff although it says “you will be treated by front desk staff”. They got rid of them I tried to cancel my reservation and they said no since it was non refundable. You leave your luggage in a locked storage room since there is no early check in. No one there to watch it your luggage. Arrived and entry code didnt work. There is a button to push to call someone and no one ever answered. Waited outside for over 30 min in the cold for them to finally program our code that would work. I let them know we are arriving on an early flight and they said no problem getting in. But we did have a problem and froze outside waiting. Very frustrating. There is no tea in the room just coffee. No breakfast available. Shower floods but no one to get extra towels from to clean it up. Have to go outside to get into your room. Odd set up Rooms clean and comfy but feel a little unsafe with no front desk staff to speak to. Quiet area. Quite a distance from the centre but walkable.

It was a nice place to stay.
