Very nice modern hotel Staff are very helpful and friendly Rooms are a great size Lovely meal in the bar with large selection to choose from Pool excellent and also nice and warm Fine size gym Plenty of parking at the hotel Our room was very quiet with super comfortable beds

Lovely well kept hotel. Rooms are getting tired however the downstairs and communal areas are beautifully well kept. The cleaners do a fantastic job. The restaurant food was good although the chips were undercooked each time we had them. The breakfast was beautiful all three mornings - not one complaint! The reception staff were lovely, bright and friendly. The restaurant staff were friendly except one chap who seemed very stressed and short when we asked for a simple table of four. All in all a wonderful stay. Thank you for having us.

All employees in here are really nice and friendly. I always feel really comfortable here! The ropná are always in perfect condition, clean and cozy.

No running water for the entire stay. Room was dusty and not clean. Staff were not helpful about the lack of water onsite

Second time staying at the Talbot. Our previous stay in June was really good and so I decided to book again for this trip. Overall the hotel is nice with a newly opened bar and restaurant area. Rooms are spacious with 2 beds and a decent bathroom. This stay unfortunately we noticed some areas which could do with improvement. On arrival (6pm) there were no staff to be seen. We stood at reception for quite a few minutes before a passing staff member went through the back and a receptionist came out. The receptionist was really lovely so this made up for the wait. We were given room 405. On the way to the room we were shocked by the state on the carpets which looked like they had been splattered with bleach all the way up the corridor. Not good for a four star hotel. The room also had a large stain on the floor which looked like coffee and a strange smell. This soon went with the window open. The following day we needed a second key card. Again no one on reception so we had another wait till a cleaner went and got a receptionist out. The following morning we were woken by a smoke alarm going off twice and when it stopped a letter placed under the door stating someone on your floor has been smoking and if they find you smoking in the room you will be charged for the deep cleaning of the room etc. This sounded very accusatory. Considering myself and my husband have never smoked we felt offended by such a letter. Unfortunately I don’t think we will chose the Talbot again.

(Guest was smoking in room) Extractor doesn’t work in ensuite No pan brush Poor disabled access to reception - unnecessarily long winded and convoluted access for wheelchair and walking stick users etc Bathroom basin too shallow for wet shave unless v careful High volume breakfast floor was v noisy and had sub optimal layout. Every surface sticky or greasy. Room tv - Samsung controls difficult, perhaps unresponsive for the low-tech user

Staff was extremely friendly and the food was very good. The location was very easy to find with plenty of parking.

Was staying for the community games. Music in the Bar til 12 and although we where staying in the 3rd floor you could hear it pretty loudly. Coffee for breakfast was seved in a pot. I requested a 2nd and the lady serving said I already had one. She never came back and when i spoke to her colleague, she told me the other person had left. Surprised at 7,30am that Cereal sever bowls where empty and little or no GF cereal. Service didn't give a great impression. Not worth the price, but we had little choice with the community games taking place in Carlow.

Amazing stay, really loved how close it was to Dunnes!

Breakfast was fine although sometimes slow getting toast.

We were very pleased with our room which was very large. I assume it was wheelchair access because of bathroom. The only minor downside was the shower curtain. I am not a fan of shower curtains. Staff were exceptionally friendly and a great choice for breakfast.
