Hotel Hokke Club Kyoto
Nice big room, good for a traveling family. Very close (across the road) from the bus and train station so it ' s very convenient to Kyoto station. TV was a bit small and wifi doesn't have any real security, but the priority was a big room. If you're a light sleeper, the curtains let a lot of light into the room in the morning. Overall good location and good value for money.

Hotel Granvia Kyoto
Excellent location at jr kyoto station, exit from central gate, take the escalator on the right. We stored our luggage and have lunch at Kyoto Porta and start our journey. Just that there are some noise as our room is facing the station concourse on the first night.
