Reason to Visit & Stay in Kyushu?

Kyushu, the southernmost of Japan's four main islands, is a treasure trove of natural beauty, rich culture, and vibrant cities. Imagine soaking in hot springs surrounded by lush greenery, exploring ancient temples, or indulging in mouthwatering local cuisine. Kyushu offers a unique blend of traditional and modern experiences that cater to the adventurous spirit of Gen Z and Millennials. Whether you're a nature lover, a history buff, or a foodie, Kyushu has something for everyone. Plus, with a variety of affordable accommodations, you can enjoy all this without breaking the bank!

How is the Location and Accessibility in Kyushu?

Getting around Kyushu is a breeze! The island is well-connected by an extensive public transportation system, including trains, buses, and ferries. The Kyushu Shinkansen (bullet train) whisks you from one city to another in no time, making it easy to explore the region. Key attractions like Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and Nagasaki are just a train ride away. Plus, with major airports in Fukuoka and Kumamoto, flying in is super convenient. Once you arrive, you’ll find that the cities are walkable, and bike rentals are popular for those who want to explore at their own pace.

What are the Popular Attractions and Things to Do in Kyushu?

Kyushu is packed with must-see attractions! Start your journey in Fukuoka, where you can visit the stunning Ohori Park and the iconic Fukuoka Tower. Don’t miss the historic Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, dedicated to the god of learning. Head to Kumamoto to explore the impressive Kumamoto Castle and the beautiful Suizenji Jojuen Garden. If you’re a nature enthusiast, the volcanic landscapes of Aso and the picturesque hot springs of Beppu are calling your name. And let’s not forget Nagasaki, where you can delve into the city’s rich history at the Atomic Bomb Museum and enjoy the breathtaking views from Mount Inasa.

What are the Safety Measures Like in Kyushu Post-Pandemic?

Traveling in Kyushu post-pandemic is as safe as it gets! The local government has implemented strict health and safety measures to ensure the well-being of both residents and visitors. You’ll find hand sanitizing stations in public areas, and many establishments require masks. Restaurants and hotels are following rigorous cleaning protocols, so you can relax and enjoy your stay without worry. Plus, the friendly locals are always ready to help you navigate any safety concerns, making your experience even more enjoyable.

Why Do Tourists Like to Come to Kyushu?

Tourists flock to Kyushu for its unique charm and diverse experiences. The island is less crowded than other popular destinations in Japan, allowing for a more authentic experience. Visitors rave about the warm hospitality of the locals, who are eager to share their culture and traditions. The stunning landscapes, from volcanic mountains to serene beaches, provide the perfect backdrop for unforgettable adventures. Plus, the delicious food scene, featuring everything from ramen to fresh seafood, keeps travelers coming back for more!

Is Kyushu Food Delicious? And What is the Best Food in Kyushu?

Absolutely! Kyushu is a food lover's paradise. The island is famous for its rich culinary heritage, and you’ll find a variety of mouthwatering dishes to try. Don’t leave without sampling Hakata ramen, known for its rich tonkotsu (pork bone) broth. Another must-try is the local specialty, basashi, which is raw horse meat served sashimi-style. For those with a sweet tooth, be sure to indulge in mikan (mandarin oranges) and the delectable sweets made from sweet potatoes. With so many flavors to explore, your taste buds are in for a treat!

Where is the Best Destination in Kyushu?

While every corner of Kyushu has its own charm, Fukuoka often steals the spotlight as the best destination. This vibrant city is a hub of culture, shopping, and nightlife. Stroll through the bustling streets of Tenjin, where you can shop for trendy fashion and unique souvenirs. The city’s food stalls, known as yatai, offer a taste of local street food that you won’t want to miss. However, if you’re seeking a more tranquil experience, consider visiting the picturesque town of Yufuin, famous for its hot springs and stunning mountain views.

When is the Best Time to Visit & Stay in Kyushu?

The best time to visit Kyushu is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months. Spring brings beautiful cherry blossoms, creating a magical atmosphere perfect for outdoor adventures and picnics. Autumn showcases vibrant foliage, making it an ideal time for hiking and exploring the countryside. The weather during these seasons is mild and pleasant, allowing you to fully enjoy all that Kyushu has to offer. Summer can be hot and humid, while winter is chilly but offers the chance to experience the region’s famous hot springs.

TKP Sunlife Hotel
Nothing beats the location which is just accross Hakata St, saved us time to get ready to catch the shinkansen, trains and busses. Not to mention good food, supermarket and shopping complex. We booked a twin room and it has everything we needed, not to cramped. There's 24hr coffee machine available in the lobby and basic amenities. Basic skincare by DHC in sachets are also available. I will def pick this place again if I ever return to Fukuoka.

Only one elevator. The location is really nice, only 5 min subway entrance. The breakfast is only bread (the melon pan is good!) But there are free drinks throughout the day which is nice.
