We spent 4 nights at the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen for a scuba diving getaway. The hotel’s location is a diver’s dream - just a quick 2-block walk to the nearby diving center. The club lounge exceeded our expectations, offering healthy and nutritious options for both breakfast and happy hour.
Special thanks to David at the beach service, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, and to all the attentive staff in the club lounge who provided exceptional service throughout our stay.
On the downside, the beach club nearby was quite noisy, which detracted from the otherwise relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, as other guests have noted, the elevators had a bit of an odd odor.
Despite these minor issues, the convenient location for diving enthusiasts, the excellent club lounge amenities, and the outstanding service from the staff made for an enjoyable stay. If you’re looking for a blend of luxury and easy access to underwater adventures, this hotel fits the bill.

We are currently hotel hopping in Cancun. This is our second hotel and we are staying here for two nights. Tonight is our last night at this location before moving to our last stop.
This is a great spot for the holidays - especially if you are traveling with a group. We have access to both the lounge and the Cenote Spa. The food is decent at the lounge. The ambiance is nice at the spa. The alcohol at the lounge... I have no complaints about that.
Things that can improve is customer service. Staff here is highly tip motivated, and that is expected apparently. The ones we've tipped are more responsive than the ones we didn't. While this is to be expected, you would've hoped the service you get at a hotel like this would be exceptional regardless of whether you've tipped or not.
Several reasonable requests (ADA related) were not met until we complained. The management was quick to rectify the issues and made the stay more enjoyable. We've spent time at the pool and at the teen activity room. There are also hourly activities for families to enjoy.
Our last night here coincides with the lighting of the Christmas tree event. It is nice. Staff made it festive with food, drinks, and music for all the guests. It is a great way to end our stay at this hotel. It's definitely worth coming with your family. As some of you know, I love staying at Hyatt. I do not get any compensation for reviews like this one. Great upscale resort in Playa. The restaurants are all very good. My room was clean and modern and every staff member was wonderfully friendly and accommodating. I had the pleasure of visiting the Cenote Spa where I had one of the best massages ever. Every part of the spa was tranquil and gorgeous. I attended a 7 Day training conference there and the overall venue was perfect. Great beach and the infinity pools are beautiful.

We stayed at the resort for our honeymoon! 8 days of relaxing, sleeping, and a few too many margaritas by the pool. The staff was very friendly! We did the all inclusive package and ITS WORTH IT! Warning: there is a day club next to the adult pool that can get very loud! The only downside was the room service quality of food.
Highly recommend spending a day at the spa! I had a cenote relaxing massage and have never felt more relaxed!

Came here for my honeymoon. They didn't do anything special in the room, which is fine, but wanted to note since things like this add positively to the experience. The hotel gave one each complimentary bottle of water. Once we arrived, we checked the bed to make sure it's clean (as we always do). Thankfully we did because we saw random pieces of hair inside the bed and beneath the pillow. Because of this, I cannot give what is supposed to be a 5 star hotel more than 3 stars. We were able to get the sheets changed fast that night. There was also a smell in the area which permeated into the room.
The view of the ocean from the lobby was stunning. The pools were incredible to be in as well. The gym had solid equipment, which made working out better. It is a great location as you are close to many things and walking is so easy from the hotel.
