Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort - Adults Only - All Inclusive

We are writing this while at the resort while under Preferred and VIP status at the resort. We just got married here at the resort on Saturday and are honeymooning as well. My wife's phone was stolen while we were eating at the hibachi restaurant. The staff has been everything but helpful on returning it or refunding us the amount of the stolen phone. We were told our room had to searched even though we hadn't been there for hours. This review may have been more than 1 star if the staff that we talked to were more helpful, but it was a 45 minute process to get nowhere with no apologizes. I hope I can change this review if the phone is returned or if we get a refund in the amount of the phone. You'd think that for a wedding couple and preferred customers you'd get a lot better treatment, especially at such a resort. If something does not change, we will continue to complain and never return to a Secrets.

We had a great experience at Secrets Playa Mujeres. The food and staff we wonderful and the accommodations were very nice. However, just a warning to those who may be traveling soon, do not let them scam you into going on a “visit” to their new location along with a “presentation” in exchange for various coupons. We were promised this experience would not last longer than 90 minutes and was only 5 minutes away. However, it was a 20+ minute very dangerous taxi ride, where we almost wrecked multiple times, and we were stuck at the “sales presentation” for over 3 hours and wasted over half our day, even after repeatedly telling them we were not going to purchase any memberships. It was not worth the coupon we received, and we advise anyone who is not interested in spending over $30k on a Hyatt membership to forgo the experience, and worthless coupons, and enjoy their time at the resort.

The resort was a beautiful location, the amenities were good, and nice variety of restaurants. Even though many staff were nice, unfortunately, many staff behaviour and customer service were not as expected as a five star resort would be. There were multiple times that they were not approachable, helpful, nor friendly in restaurants, spa, and the front desk. Our bathroom had a leaking ceiling as well in the room #3103 Also, most of the drinks were not good at all; they were full of sugar instead of alcohol or refreshing.

Had an excellent stay! The rooms were pretty good (dated but will be getting an overhaul in 2025), the pools/grounds were great, the drinks and food were quite good. What made our visit particularly memorable was the service we received; the staff (drivers, bellmen, front desk staff, baristas, servers, concierges) were great! I would like to thank Sabrina (front desk), and Alejandro & Martha (concierge) in particular for their impeccable service.

The amount of extra money this resort tries to make off of the guests is unacceptable. My family came here for New Years, paying the extra premium for the dates and paid for the preferred club as well. Despite this, on New Year's Eve they were selling: - New Year's Eve dinner for $150 USD per person - tables/Bali beds in front of the New Year's party stage for $180+ USD (I believe there were spots going for $800+) While my family was waiting around in front of the stage by the main pool for the shows to start, we were asked to move over to the other side of the resort because the area in front of the stage was for guests who had paid. I find this unacceptable that common areas in the resort were being gated off for guests who paid extra, just to create the feeling of exclusivity. There was plenty of room where other guests could have stood around or where the hotel could have set up extra chairs. For how expensive the resort is and how much extra you need to pay to be here on New Year's, I definitely would not recommend coming here unless you are looking to spend at least an extra $500 or so to get the full experience.
