Amazing location and comfortable stay. I was a bit skeptical booking after reading so many negative reviews, but the experience was great. Very clean room with no smell of old building. Clean towels and bed sheets. Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is the best - walking distance to main Amsterdam attractions. Bathroom would benefit from a little renovation, but still very clean. Hot water is not a problem. It was a little chilly in the room (we visited in February) but not too cold. Would be nice to have a coffee machine in the room for such early birds as us since bar downstairs opens only at 9 AM. Overall great experience for a very reasonable price. I definitely recommend.

Great location, very quiet room, good heating at night. I’m 6’2” and hit my head a lot walking around the room and hotel, but that’s normal in Europe, and bed was a little small for my height.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Staff was very friendly, the hotel was charming and perfectly located. The room, although small, was a perfect slice of Amsterdam.

Check in was great. The room was disappointing but the bed and pillows were good. The towels rolled up on the bed felt damp, the towels and comforter were stained. We got one fresh towl one day out of our trip and the bed wasn't made daily, i assume it would be. Paint was peeling or missing in sections off the wall, bathroom door and ceiling. The windows were pretty gross. I get it's an old building but the linens should be in better conditions. The area was great and quite. Short walk to Jumbo for daily groceries as the room has no fridge to keep some milk and friut for breakfast. The room on the floor above us was not quiet. Grew to enjoy hearing the church bells/songs.

It's nearest dam square which is good. Shower room water dripping all the time. Management knew this problem. They don't fixed. Three nights disrupted sleep. We have been 5th floor. Stair is steep, no lift. be careful older people.

There was no soap or shampoo in the room. I asked the: staff who said we don’t provide shampoo but said there is soap in the room - she checked herself. There was no soap. The room was never cleaned during 3 nights I stayed.

Location is great - that’s the only good thing I can say
I’m guessing it used to be a brothel, and may be protected, but the amount of mirrors are disturbing
Tiny bathroom
No tea/coffee options - not even a cup to fill with water
And, we’re in 2025, no central heating????????
No lift - my room was on the 4th floor - tricky stairs to negotiate
In short - I wouldn’t even call it a hotel, definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone
Comfortably in my top 3 worst hotels - AVOID

My first reaction was small property but everything is the same around, and to be honest the room was spacious, bigger than expected. Even though I didnt find the heater, it was warm. The only problem I got was the mold on the shower door. It gave me an allergy reaction and fever. That door must be taken away.

Wonderful staff and perfect location, just such a shame about how dated and run down the rooms are. It was livable, but not particularly nice to be in.
The shower room is tiny and water pools inside, and our toilet had a cable tie for a flush, which staff were very apologetic for. Very odd room filled with lots of mirrors…
That said, bedding was clean, and the bed was comfy. The location couldn’t have been more perfect for where we needed to be, and at the price we paid, you don’t exactly expect luxury! 3 stars overall

You pretty much get a bed and bathroom, nothing more. No body wash or shampoo provided at the hotel. You can’t adjust the temperature in the room. It was cold during my stay, I just layered up when I sleep. Overall it’s a fair hotel.

The hotel is in a cool historic building right on a canal. Be prepared for the stairs, there isn’t an elevator. The room was really small, but the window opened and we had our own tiny bathroom. The staff and owner were absolutely wonderful. I can’t say enough nice things about them. There is also a nice lounge area in the lobby and a smoking lounge downstairs. If traveling on a budget, I would stay here again.

The outside of the property is beautiful and really well located. The staff are friendly and the hotel is secure.
Our room was a basic double, in the UK we expect a standard that this was below unfortunately, although the price was good, i'd rather have paid a bit more for a better standard of room. The ceiling had cracks, the bathroom looked dirty, although it wasn't, the marble tiles have gone yellow and the unit front was wearing aware. Due to this my husband refused to use the bathroom.
some things to be aware of, the towels supplied were 2 small towels each, there is nowhere to put anything in the bathroom - toothbrush etc, there are no tea making facilities and no food allowed in the room, no hairdryer or iron either.
I'm giving this honest feedback because i feel if the rooms were maintained and some customer consideration was taken this hotel could be amazing and would be able to charge alot more for the rooms.

The hotel was in a great location, easy to get to the museums and Dam square.
The bathroom was clean but smelly, the fan does not work.
