I stayed here for 4 nights recently and the location was perfect for me. I found the hotel easily arriving from Centraal, all the staff were very helpful especially the lady that checked me in, the room was nice and spacious, the bed was comfy, and the surrounding area has everything you might need while staying in Amsterdam. 10/10. I will be booking here again on my next visit

So there are a lot of bad reviews for this place, but my experience was great. The room was small side, up on the 4th floor. Elevator worked great and the room was comfy and clean. It’s not a 5 star resort, but did me just fine. It is an older hotel, so don’t expect shiny and new. It was perfect for my needs and super close to the train station and trams.

There is no elevator and the staircase is like a mase and tiny which makes it difficult to ascend or descend most especially if you are carrying luggage

Made a booking via expedia for a double bed and received a basement room with 2 single beds, broken window blinds, tv didnt work, wall sockets hanging out the wall, wall damage and stains everywhere. I complained and asked for a refund, they said we would have to wait until home and contact expedia but could change room the second day. We move to the new room... this room had windows without curtains, footprints embedded into the carpet, the toilet faced the bed and the door didn't close fully, the door weren't actually secure into the fixture either and the walls were falling apart. We got home and contacted expedia with images and told them we'd mentioned refund to reception who told us to apply via expedia... they then refused a refund when expedia contacted them. Scam artists with horrible rooms. 2 nights cost over £300. Appalling place

Fabulous location on a cute street. However I do not recommend this hotel if you are a light sleeper. The walls are very thin and sound transfers between rooms. I had difficulty sleeping here.

Shocking . Near Central Station but should not be on your books . The reception area was not inviting and looked and felt sleazy. Our rooms were inconvenient … one on the ground floor where the occupants felt it was necessary to barricade the door . Our room was in the attic and was approached… inside the room …. by very steep twisting stairs . No one to help with luggage and very difficult to negotiate . Man on reception…. not professional… Horrible place . Felt more of a brothel than a hotel -very subjective judgement but there we are ! Thankyou

The room was very filthy and small. There was hardly any space to walk besides the room. The water glasses were not clean. I could see cobweb and spiders in the room. There was no elevator to take you to the basement where my room was located. I had to use the emergency stairs to access my room and also had to take my luggage through those stairs. The stairs were so narrow that one could easily slip with the luggage. Even the staff was not at all courteous and was rude. I had a very bad experience with the property.

An open socket gave me a electric shock
The beds are not mattresses they are mattress toppers.
How ever they have a free coffee machine so I guess that makes it a little better

Scarlett and other staff members are nice and friendly. They are helpful. The otel’s location is awesome. Recommended to be stayed. Only thing is rooms are little tiny.

First trip to Amsterdam and did not know where things were but this Hotel, was walking distance between Canals, bars, and Red light district and Trains the most important part. The area was Safe and would recommend if you have kids this is a safe place as well. Highly recommend Hotel Sotel to all travelers and I also would mention area was quiet and not loud and we stayed on the first floor and the people above us you couldn’t hear them at all! Only draw back was the shower if you take a 15 min shower like me be prepared the bath room will be wet! I repeat take a fast shower. Draining system for shower was inadequate and room was wet from day 1 to Day 3. Other then that we loved our stay.
