Heartland Hotel Queenstown

Too scared to plug in bedside lamp because it was dangerous. Broken wiring was strapped up with surgical tape and switch was illegally added with wiring spliced. No air conditioning, just a very old and dirty plug in fan. Unable to watch the very small TV because it switched off after seconds. Staff didn't seem surprised or concerned when we complained.

Great place to stay, no fuss and close to everything. Keep in mind some rooms don’t have air conditioning, not normally an issue but on a hotter day you will feel it.

Loved our stay here. Staff and facilities were excellent. Breakfast was lovely and we could easily walk to downtown Queenstown. The steep hill walk home would get the occasional whine from the family but the bedroom views made up for it when you got back.

Hotel is in very poor condition and overpriced for what you get. Desperately in need of renovation.

Wonderful location. Loved the A frame rooms and the amazing lake view! Staff were professional and nice. We wish the hot tub did not cost extra to use. The hotel got a bit warm and the door could be propped open but would bang around in the wind, so coyld be better stabilized.

Great location, convenient to town and a decent view from many rooms. Service and facilities were pretty good. Only downgraded my rating as the room I was in was a little run down and could do with a refresh. One chair starting to fall apart, flaked paintwork, worn bathroom fittings. Not an issue for me really but might be for others. Clean as a whistle though.

Great location and clean. No air conditioning but a great breeze with window open (only issue with that was the smell of smoke from those smoking on their patios). Would stay again.

Quiet and spacious rooms. Really friendly and helpful staff

We had rooms with wonderful views of the lake from balcony. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. Coffee was great.

Good basic accommodation for a family at a decent price. Fruendly reception. Accommodation very dusty and mouldy, the only let down.

Room was clean. Parking was available, but a bit tight compared to the U.S. It’s within walking distance of downtown and the water, but it’s at the top of a hill; it’s a bit of a hike back up. The one HUGE drawback on the hot summer day that we stayed there…despite the description on Expedia.com, our room had NO air conditioning!!! It was stiflingly hot!

The bad. Not enough parking and is a first come first serve deal. Check in early to get this. I didn’t and I complained to the front desk three times. I was then walked round the premise by the duty manager Mohammed and this is where the bad thing happened. I was taken to the basement parking, showed spaces I could use. I was then led into an elevator. Once the door closed, none of the buttons worked! I was sled to scan my card and that didn’t work because that was programmed for one part of the hotel. He refused to press the alarm button and ended up calling the reception. I then had enough after 5 min and pressed the alarm. No alarm sounded, more like a one off bell sound. I think we were there for 10 minutes. And eventually the elevator went up one floor. I was not offered a part refund or any refund. I complained twice to the front desk about this issue and they apologised. The manager at the time didn’t really apologise, just asked if I was ok. The good stuff. Gym was ok, sauna was good. The hot tub would have been good if it was open behind 9pm. I do not recommend staying here.

The view was spectacular from the second floor! Would be a great place to stay longer than 1 night. (Family Room I believe it was called) will stay again when we come back 😁

Older hotel. Nice staff. Good breakfast. Conveniently located. However, shower curtain mounted inside a beam, making the shower very narrow. Curtain sticks to you. Hotel sits atop a decent hill. No a/c in some rooms.
