Not at all up to the standard of other hotels in Norway

I wish we were getting more rooms with a view after all these years of using Hotels.com …

Our stay was great, room is spacious, heated floor in the bathroom and it’s close to this mall where we found a buffet Thai restaurant. The only thing I didn’t like was the breakfast choices, especially the scrambled eggs, choices are not as good of what we had in Sweden.

The rooms in this property are just fine, and the breakfast was very good, as is typical for Thon Hotels. However, the location was very odd for a Thon Hotel. The lobby for the hotel is shared with a bowling alley, and while the surrounding area is certainly not unseemly, it is mostly residential and there is virtually no place to dine. Again, this is not necessarily a bad review; we were just surprised because the other Thon Hotels we stayed in on this trip were quite nice, and this one was, in my view, a 2.5 star hotel. If you are just staying the night (as we did) the rooms and breakfast are very nice; but that is all you should expect.

Breakfast really good, property is very new and clean

The hotel is tired, which means it just looks dirty and run down. I know the staff do clean it so it’s clean just the perception is not there. The breakfast is to skip cold and unappealing, I saw a more experienced guest just made themselves a sandwich something I would recommend doing for breakfast

Was going to give this a great review - the rooms are good sized, the beds are comfortable and the shower is nice. The breakfast was really good too - lots of options. Except that around midnight, the bad live music started at some near-empty bar directly under our room (on the second floor). Can't sleep, can't block it out - it reverberates through the thin floors. The road noise was pretty bad too. If you stay here, avoid Saturday and the second floor. And for the hotel - maybe avoid booking people in rooms directly above the music - or, soundproof it better.

Location for me was good, close to Moa. Room was OK, nothing spectacular but fine. Evening snack was a nice surprise and breakfast was good. Friendly staff. Would be nice if there would be a door mat when entering the room. The sand from the shoes got carried around the whole room, even if I left the shoes by the door.

Nice hotel, comfortable room and easy street parking. It was a little noisy in the evening with people walking outside. Easy access to walk from the hotel. Food was excellent at breakfast.

Did not like undermarked parking. Loved the evening Norwegian waffles!! Could have appreciated clarity that Thon Baronen is not in downtown historic Alesund, but out in a suburb

Nice big room, quiet although a little street traffic.

Positive things first: unexpectedly there was a supper available free of charge for all hotel guests. The night I was there a nice pasta dish, water and juices, a fresh waffle for dessert. That saved me from finding a restaurant for dinner that night and dine by myself. Rooms are spacious and clean. Impossible is certainly the price they charge for a single room for one night... even in hight season!

The hotel is situated outside the city centre which provides a comfortable area without too much noise. The hotel itself seems outdated and old. However, there is evidence of renovation going on during our stay. The entire 2nd floor seems newly updated but the 3rd floor still has that old and dated look to it. The key system is also quite dated by using actual keys instead of keycards. The hotel staff were really nice and accomodating. The hotel has complimentary breakfast included and light dinner with waffles. The breakfast menu isn't as varied as I would expect from a 3 star hotel. The hotel serves the exact same breakfast every morning but dinner menus differs each night. The hotel with its dated look has its charm. Just like the room that I stayed in, it had its own balcony which gave a nice view of the sunset but Alesund's rainy weather means that time spent on the balcony is lessened. Overall a nice hotel to stay at if you are planning a road trip with Alesund as a starting point. This hotel also has its own parking space which made it easier for someone who rented a car during their stay.
