Pestana Dom João II Hotel Beach & Golf Resort

Stayed here for a week recently. 2 couples, golfing and relaxing in the area. Loved the Hotel. Breakfast was fab out on the deck. Staff were all excellent. The biggest aspect here is the location which is right on one of the best beaches in the world. Come out of the hotel, get on the beack and go left onto the hidden beaches....just fab. Highly recommend.

Great position easy walking distance from the lovely town of Alvor. Hotel clean and room (302) good but overlooking the car park. Breakfast very busy if enter after 8.15am but quite good selection. Evening meal €30 incl a drink was ok but nothing special. Pool very nice and plenty of sunbeds (a little old), Pool bar good. One niggle is that the member card gives you 10% discount but then every transaction gets a 10% service charge. I’d rather tip based on quality of service, not every single drink. Small supermarket close by for basic provisions and drinks. Small fridge in room which is adequate but no ice making and a kettle had to be hired (€10). I’d definitely visit again but hope they sort out Faro airport which was chaotic.

Stayed for 4 nights, beautiful location, beach only a few steps across the boardwalk. Everywhere around the hotel & grounds was spotlessly clean, rooms also immaculately clean. Beds really comfy too. Nothing was any trouble for the staff who always smiled and took time to speak to you, especially Reception (Cecilia) and Pool bar hut (Cecilia). Breakfast plentiful, lots of choices, buffet evening meal also great (only had it one night as we were B&B) Lots of nice restaurants and bars in Alvor, which was traditional and not spoilt at all. Perfect for a few days away to relax. Spa also definitely worth a visit, had a fantastic back massage by Corina, she was excellent - thank you 😊 Really enjoyable stay.

We stayed here recently for our annual kids summer getaway and we all had a wonderful time. The location is great, it is a beach front hotel with direct access to the boardwalk that will take you along the entire beach and then at the far end to the strip of restaurants and shops by the marina. The ease of getting around was great, there are 2 local shops where you could get essentials and snacks. It was on the pricey side for somethings (such as sand toys) but everything else was fine. The hotel was in a peaceful area and wasn’t massively busy which suited us. The pool was a good size and there was a lovely shallow one for the kids with freshwater and there were a generous amount of sun-beds out. The towel service from the hotel was also really good. The rooms were a good size and had all the standard things needed for a comfortable stay the only thing missing was a kettle but this could be easily arranged by reception (my only complaint is there is a charge to borrow one if they provide you with tea/coffee but if not it’s FOC, just for ease I think all hotel rooms should provide one!) . The TV channels were also good, catered to us all as family. The only issues we had during our stay was that on one occasion we had no water for a short period without any warning and the flush for the toilet was a little temperamental but other than that everything was great. We only had breakfast and lunch at our hotel but both meals were good with a great selection of hot food, pastries, fruit, hot food, cereals, cheese, deli meats & drinks. I especially loved the omelette & pancake station. Overall the staff were wonderful and our stay was a brilliant one. Thank you for having us!

Fabulous hotel. Immaculately clean throughout. Zero noise at night. Huge grounds so no problem with sun beds. Lovely food with plenty of gluten free options. Only 50 metres from the beach. Relaxing entertainment at night in a lovely bar area. Only downside is the 15 min walk into Alvor, but Uber’s are always available within minutes for no more than €5.
