White Exclusive Suite & Villas

We just wrapped up a week at White where we were celebrating our 20th anniversary. Every staff member was attentive, friendly, and incredibly helpful. We felt pampered and relaxed. Coming back to White at the end of busy days exploring the island was absolute perfection. Loved every second!

We stayed in the Unique Suite for 7 days. It was our first time in the Azores and at this hotel. As someone who has traveled extensively and stayed at some of the finest hotels around the world, I have to be honest—while our experience was overall pleasant, there are several areas that need improvement for this hotel to truly be considered 5-star. At the moment, it feels more like a 4-star experience. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: Breathtaking view of the ocean and cliffs. Eco-friendly concept and thoughtful design of the common areas. Great location, almost in the center of the island, making it easy to reach any destination. It’s also very close to the airport and main city. Friendly and helpful staff, always available and provided lots of useful information and tips for exploring the island. Homemade breads, jams, and juices served at breakfast. Yoga cabin available upon request—a nice spot for relaxation, though a sound system for music or guided meditation would be a welcome addition. Jacuzzi available on request, though it would be better with less chlorine. Herbal tea and pillow spray provided every evening. Own parking lot with ample space. Cons: No toothbrushes, toothpaste, sewing kit, or combs provided. Body wash and shampoo are stored in glass jars that are difficult to use when wet; solid soap at the sink and dispensers in the bath would be more practical. No detachable shower head, making it hard to rinse the body and clean the bath afterward. The water pressure in the shower was also weak. The TV is placed awkwardly next to the kitchenette, with no comfortable spot for viewing. We had to use an iPad instead; it would be better placed near the bed. Kitchen chairs are very heavy and uncomfortable—more decorative than functional. The bathroom has no door, just a curtain, which compromises privacy and soundproofing. There were only a few coffee capsules, just enough for one cup per day. No drying rack for damp swimsuits or towels. When my companion fell ill during the night, there were no basic medications available; we had to wait for the pharmacy to open. Housekeeping was inconsistent; we never knew when our room would be serviced each day. Additionally, attention to detail was lacking—such as providing two left-sided slippers without noticing. Small items were often left disorganized. The floor in the room was cold, making it uncomfortable to walk without slippers. The carpet texture was unpleasant and trapped sand, which was hard to vacuum. The bathroom lacked a carpet, making the floor slippery, especially with stairs leading to the bathtub. The towel provided didn’t fit, creating a tripping hazard. The breakfast menu was limited for those with dietary restrictions like lactose or egg intolerance, as I could only have one option (açaí bowl) for seven days straight. No scheduled events like live music or wellness classes, which is a missed opportunity given the hotel’s great concept. It would be wonderful to have more ways for guests to interact and enjoy their stay. No sound system available in the room, making it impossible to set an alarm or play music. Also, no notepads were provided for taking notes. The Unique Suites booked on Booking.com are not clearly differentiated, leading to confusion about which of the two you might receive. Overall, I feel the price paid for the room was disproportionate to the experience. I cannot recommend this hotel until these issues are resolved and the quality of the stay matches the expectations of a luxury stay. Hopefully, these points will be considered to improve the guest experience in the future. Personally, I would not return next year unless these design and service issues are addressed.

Amazing stay at the White! The breakfast, the room, the pool were all amazing! The manager João and his team were super friendly and helpful! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR COUPLES!!

We found ourselves in a bind as we were booked at an Airbnb that was not as represented. We luckily found the white hotel and could not have been more pleased. Joao was amazing in helping us with getting a room, as we did not have prior reservations. He was very helpful in so many ways, giving us tips on places to see, my husband's food allergy, etc. The entire staff were absolutely great. We will definitely go back.

The main draw of this hotel is its stunning location, and the service and rooms are also so great. The front desk was always so helpful and had great recommendations for food and hikes. I could have stood on our balcony, or on the hotel deck, or in the heated infinity pool all day and watched the waves break below.
