This was my first time Switzerland!! I decided to stay in Zurich and i stayed in old town Zurich where this historical hotel is located. The room was a good size very clean and a comfortable bed!! We went during the holidays and were surprised to see a Small Christmas market outside. The location was perfect!!!! Felt safe walking around at night with my young daughter after sightseeing or coming back from the train station which is only 15 minutes away walking. The area looked like a fairytale. Just beautiful. Staff was very friendly.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Hirschen. Right in the heart of Zurich, you can walk anywhere and even walk from the Train Station (Zurich HB) to the hotel. There are so many restaurants and shopping around the hotel. The staff was always so kind and very welcoming. The highlight of this place was the cute dogs always around reception. Chloe and Hector really made our stay at Hotel Hirschen so much more enjoyable. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

The Hotel is in a great area and the staff are very nice. The reason for the low rating is the shower. When taking a shower every minute or so the temperature will change to nearly boiling, last about 5 seconds and then return to normal. Overall it is a smaller hotel room in a great area. If your plan is to visit Zurich and don't need much more than a clean bed and simple room then this is a great option.

The hot water barely worked for my shower despite waiting 25 minutes for it to get warm. The heating system went out completely the second night and on the second day the kettle plug to the wall separated due to it being old and poor quality and I got zapped and had to go to the doctor for a check. A bit of a nuisance that you had to leave key at front desk every time you left the hotel and ask for it every time you went back to your room. Don't know if that is done for security reasons but I felt like I was bothering the front desk. At other places, we got the standard plastic cards and could come and go as we pleased.

The hotel is at the very center of a lovely plaza and street. There is plenty of restaurants and super cute shops. The hotel is very old but nicely decorated with a pretty breakfast room. There are fabulous restaurants on site including a special wine cellar.

Room 402 during Oct. 5-7.
Pros:
- good location
Cons:
- room is tiny, did not match the photos
- very old rooms
- room was not cleaned properly beforehand. There were still things from the previous occupants in the room (dirty wash cloths)
- very loud building, not loud street noise
- the reception plays music from the lobby which is very loud as it echos throughout the buildings. It sounds like banging and furniture moving from above within our room. At investigating, we found it was the music and we ask her to turn it off. This ruined the entire first night staying there. Could not sleep without ear plugs as a result. The lack of self awareness that maybe it’s not a good idea to play music that can be herd throughout the building is amazing. Really ruined the first night at over $220/night. It hurts. Terrible night sleep as a result.

The hotel is an easy walk from the main train station. While the room is a bit small, it was immaculate and had great WiFi, a good breakfast (included) and the staff were very friendly. Nice neighborhood for dining and drinks. All in all a good 'home away from home' in Zürich!

This is a really lovely, simple hotel, in the heart of Zürich's old town. It took me about 10 minutes to walk there from the main station.
The room was perfectly clean, and comfortable. I booked a small room, which had an en-suite, double bed, wardrobe and table and chairs, but I can't comment on the larger rooms and suites.
Breakfast was simple, but nice. Pastries, bread, some muesli (of course), fruit, yoghurt, salami, cheese, and eggs you could boil up in their little machine. What more do you really need? (obviously there was coffee and tea too)
I've stayed in 3 Hotels in Zürich now, and this is the one I'll be using again, as it has the right balance between price and comfort.
The staff are lovely and helpful.

Beautiful old building. 10 minute walk from the station. Room was on the small side but perfectly adequate. The bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent with good pressure and very warm. We ordered breakfast for our last day and the food was of a good standard. Lots of choice for dining in the area.
