Chateau Beachfront Resort, BW Signature Collection

You definitely get what you pay for with the Chateau. I stayed there for two reasons: an inexpensive getaway and for nostalgia. I actually stayed at this hotel for my high school graduation trip in 1983. Even though it was inexpensive, I expected more since Best Western bought it, but the showers and tubs need to be replaced, and a better quality TV should be in the rooms. The remote didn't work half the time, and some of the channels didn't have any sound. It was frustrating. The most frustrating thing about my stay was the lack of a balcony (even though the room I chose on Expedia said the room came with a balcony). I was on the first floor, and the "balcony" was a shared walkway with everyone else on the first floor. They put a chair outside the door, but it still isn't a balcony. Even though my room was nowhere near what I was expecting, the staff was very pleasant.

The floor in our room had not been swept for a while. It was pretty dirty!

Sink and toilet not working

Everything was wounderful except the A/C was broke and security would have been nice because there was folks smoking in the pool area and balcony areas

Great value

Check in was unpleasant. The older lady in the office was very rude (we were told the same thing by other guests). We did arrive early and was rudely told that no room until 4. Totally understandable. But at 4, we were told it would be another 40 minutes. 40 minutes later, we were standing outside our room while housekeeping finished cleaning. Once inside and unpacked, discovered the AC unit wasn’t cooling the room. We did get a brand new unit installed within an hour. It was not a pleasant way to start of vacation. We did enjoy the pool and beach!

Location is good right on the beach wish there had been a kiddie pool area for the younger kids Tv in my room was not good it had sound but struggled to get a picture

Water from the AC leaked into the room. The door wouldn't shut properly. The toilet was clogged without even using it. No room service. No broom for the sand buildup. No table to eat at. Only one chair to sit in for a family of three. Mini fridge was unbalanced and knocked food onto the sandy floors.

This is my third stay at this hotel. The condition of the property has really degraded… there was trash everywhere I went. There were beer bottles on the walkway near my room. The condition of the room was poor. The bathroom was terrible and the floors were dirty. There is only ice for purchase. I spent $6 for a bag of ice that was way more than I needed but nothing else was available… the check in desk area smelled like raw sewage. I asked the attendant about it and she said they are trying to find the source. It’s a shame because the location is great, right in the beach. If it is not cleaned up I can see this place folding because people will not stand for material condition

Deborah checked us in and was very friendly, great stay and she was very helpful. Property and room were amazing with comfy beds and pillows with all the amenities. This was a quick last needed beach trip with military buddies and we had a great time! I will come back and stay again!

Only stayed one night in this beachfront hotel. Deborah at check in was friendly and gave us a great restaurant recommendation for dinner. Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool. Bed was comfortable so we rested well. Compared to more expensive/fancier hotels, this older/well worn property was very affordable for being right on the beach. It suited our needs and we got to enjoy sunset from the pool deck.

This property has no elevator and very difficult to carry bags up and down stairs. They also do not clean rooms or replenish supplies of towels or toilet paper or anything without going to the front desk. They are stingy with toilet paper and almost wouldn’t give us two rolls when we had several more days. Getting towels is difficult but we just took pool towels to our room when we needed them. The room was decent though. They need to do better.

We enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean and everything was nicely prepared. Check-in didn’t take long at all.

I was really disappointed in our stay this time. The Chateau has always been really special to us, as it was the first place we ever stayed at in Panama. I was real disappointed with this stay, especially since all the updates. Pros Our room was clean. Great staff. Nice size rooms and living area. Great pillows. Close to the beach. Swimming pool area was really nice. Its conveniently located near some stores and restaurants. Cons The main office stinks (like sewer) - SO BAD! The pictures of our room were misleading. It looked as if we would have a balcony, but instead we had to use the main shared balcony area. Our room had 2 seperate bedrooms, and a living room. There was only 1 remote control to use for all 3 rooms. The a/c was kept on the lowest temp and highest fan, but the rooms still were not cool. The shower was difficult to figure out, if my husband didn't have plumbing experience, we would have never figured it out. The water pressure was terrible. The beds were really uncomfortable, other than the pillows. Overall the staff was great, clean room, nice areas. I was just disappointed as it seemed so misleading. The Chateau will always be special to us, but I doubt we will ever stay again.
