Hotel and the City-Midtown

Excellent communication in advance of our stay, polite efficient and friendly reception on arrival and on departure. Location is perfect! Apartment super cute, well decorated and perfect for our family of five.

Clean, comfort and cheap. Very close to everything. If lucky, you will have the Empire State Building in your room window!

Perfect for our family of 7! Close to everything!!

This property was not only dirty but the building the room is located is a very busy noisy and unsafe building and area . The sheets towels and room were very dirty with limited facilities . Would not suggest this property

The location was great-we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. We stayed in the penthouse, so we had a private outdoor area with an igloo. That was lovely to sit in after a busy day. We were very close to the Empire State Building. The management was always very quick to answer my questions and allowed us to leave our luggage there until we needed it. The price was reasonable, in comparison to other hotels. The room was tiny but very clean. The outdoor area was a definite plus. There were 5 of us in our party, and it is hard to find someplace for 5-but this was perfect.

The noise coming from the building at night prevented us from sleeping much at all. It sounded like there was someone banging on a metal pipe behind the wall intermittently throughout the night, but I think it was something in the building’s heating system. The staff seemed overwhelmed and rude with the exception of the nice guy who does all of the initial communication and checked our luggage in. In the morning there was a person pooping in the internal doorway. Not great.

Location was great for seeing the sites during Christmas time.

Overall, the place was great! The location was great and was close to a lot of the places we wanted to visit. The only issue was the heating, even though it was on, we felt cold throughout the night.

Unit is small so having the balcony with enclosed and heated space was great.

This aparthotel is extremely accommodating with excellent communication. I will absolutely stay here again. Amazing location!

Easy to go around

Very good, centric unit in NY, right in Midtown, near everything

This is a cute little studio room with kitchen amenities. It was close to the train station, and it suited our needs perfectly. The only thing I'd like to suggest to the owner is to add wash cloths and maybe a few more bath towels to the bathroom inventory. We had to go buy wash cloths to take showers. And a roll of paper towels and/or kitchen towels to clean up/dry any dishes used. Other than that, it was perfect.

This hotel gives you a rather dismal first impression: it's embedded in a commercial building on 31st, which it shares with assorted businesses that, for example, sell SIM cards or offer to store your luggage. Many people are always sitting in the lobby, with their voluminous luggage. The hotel reception is only open from 9 to 5 but they have mechanisms to let you check in and out at other times. When you go upstairs, you encounter an old low-marked residential building transformed into a hotel. But, very surprisingly, the room is meticulously clean and offers most if not all of the features you'd get in a mainstream hotel! The only two drawbacks, in addition to the disconcerting lobby, are the street noise and the fact that there's no front-desk support from 5 pm to 9 am. But the hotel is conveniently close to Penn Station and you really get a good deal for the money. I would go again.

We had an excellent stay! They were very responsive to our needs. The location was great. Many spots were very walkable and close to subway.

The management communicated well but had some difficulty explaining how the poor reviews of another host in the building is not a reflection of Hotel and the City. They need to clarify their advertising to disassociate from other hosts. Good experience, excellent location, tiny and cute, clean but we would not stay there again because of the very old bed linens and like old buildings the pipes bang at 5am when the heat goes on. I will say that the management warns you…which was odd and funny. With brand new linens and towels I would give it a try again for a one night stay. No smells, no bugs. It really was well kept. And I checked both mattresses. Each had 2 zipped mattress covers.

The hotel suite was bigger than expected and very clean. All appliances worked and the beds were comfy. However our toilet randomly clogged at 5am and then started flooding the bathroom. The building maintenance only gave us a plunger and blamed us for putting any toilet paper in the toilet at all. He said someone would bring us more towels and help clean up in the morning but that did not happen. We unclogged the toilet, turned off the water, and cleaned up the flooding ourselves. The concierge was very apologetic and did not make us pay for the damages but we still paid full price for the suite when we couldn’t use the toilet for half of our visit. The heat was also very loud throughout the night however I understand this is pretty unavoidable in old NYC buildings. The location was ideal and easy to find and the free luggage storage was easy and helpful.

The communication from the hotel was very quick, and they were always willing to help out.
