Hudson River Hotel

Property is in need of renovation in all areas. Staff were pleasant. Unfortunately the rooms look a lot better in the photos than in person. Our room didn’t have a safe in the room which was advertised. Good location to explore Manhattan relatively easily however price has to be right reflecting condition of my room.

Hotel is under renovation and frankly not finished. The facade looks very shabby. The bed and linen were good and clean. Servive personnel are polite. But there’s are no side lamps, coffee maker and no decor and cold stone floors. My complaint about a broken toilet seat was acknowledged but went unattended. There is only one elevator that is also used by the service crew and also some of the construction people so waits could be more than 10 minutes to catch the elevator. The location is great if you’re planning to walk to Javitz for a conference or expo.

Thought it was in a great location walkable distance to pretty much everything midtown. Staff were friendly. Room was clean except the comforter which has blood stains and the towel that was given was full of hair. Got a new towel without any issues. It was a place to stay if youre looking for a 3 or 4 star this isnt it. If youre here to be within walkable distance to pretty much everything (we walked to chinatown 1 hour) then this is a good spot. We walked back from Madison Square Garden 4 nights around 1-2am and no issues (but it was winter and time during New Years) Breakfast is toast and keurig. But if youre coming to NYC to get a contenental breakfast then this isnt it. Grocery store is around the corner to get breakfast. Construction going on across the street cool to see how much they get done in a day. Overall cheaper place than almost anywhere else but you get what you pay for.

No running water for 4 days. No other rooms offered, this place was hell on earth.

Was okay. Lots if construction in area and tight near entrance/exit of Lincoln Tunnel. Definitely basic, but okay.

Great walking distance to all the shopping. Great staff but not a huge fan of the room for the price

We liked it because it was a smaller hotel with less rooms which is less noise. We had an issue with our 1st room and they got us another right away.

This hotel, felt like the bates motel, we was not comfortable with our stay, we checked in Saturday 3pm and checked out 945pm, i requested a refund or some type of credit and the hotel would not accommodate. My room was on the 5th floor and it was nosey you could hear everything going on in others rooms. Something could have been done about my stay

Very old and very unsafe

As we checked in, a lady and the front desk were arguing. Tv didn’t work. Phone didn’t work. Microwave didn’t work. NO hot water in the shower. The sink had hot water but not even slightly warm bathing water. Mold in the bathrooms. Floors dirty.

The place is not very clean, everything was old and worn. Glad we only spent 1 night here. There was a sensor light that went on and off all night. We called to ask what could be done to stop this. They sent someone up, he couldn't fix it and offered to move us to another room. Mind you it was close to 11pm, we were up at 5am, walked miles in the cold and were exhausted. We would've had to pack everything up to move. Did I mention we were already in bed with our jammies on? We passed on that offer. The next morning upon checking out, mentioning we were the people with the blinking light problem, we inquired about leaving our luggage at the hotel so we could go siteseeing. (This is a service that is offered for $10 per bag). I mentioned the inconvenience we experienced throughout the night, and perhaps they would comp us the fees ;; to make good on the blinking light. The man immediately said no. It was hotel "policy" to collect the lousy $10. I thought it should be hotel policy to take good care of their guests. We won't go back, thanks for nothing!

Was perfect for what we needed. Everything was a little outdated and you could see not much up keep. The air unit was broken so it was very cold in there. We only used the room to sleep and get ready so it was perfect for what we needed. All in all though we would stay here again!

If you want a breakfast look elsewhere, their continential breakfast is old bread that you toast with jelly, and some k cups for coffee, nothing more. The TV would not work even after trying several remotes. Cleanliness was ok not great. Very small room as well, not much room to turn around in. Overall it's probably an average hotel for New York. The staff was general friendly and location was descent for walking to Times Square and Theatre District.

I experienced everything one could possibly go through in life at this hotel. First, the heater was extremely loud and impossible to adjust, so I had to sleep with headphones on. The toilet was leaking, and there was mold on the ceilings of both the bathroom and the room. After being out, I returned to find the room uncleaned. Even after they claimed to have cleaned it, there were hairs and dust on the floor, more hairs and dust on the bathroom floor, and the toilet paper holder was rusted. The worst part was that the elevator broke down, so I had to use the stairs. There was only one hanger in the closet, and when I asked for more, they said they didn’t have any extras, forcing me to buy hangers myself. The quality of the toilet paper was so terrible that I couldn’t help but wonder where they even sourced such items. They also told me that refunds were absolutely not possible. I contacted Expedia, but they ignored the issue as well.

Price point to high for quality and location of hotel

Very run down and room was dirty. Smelled of cigarette smoke.

Great spot for a weekend or overnight stay. A little dated. Advertise breakfast which consists of toast coffee and an apple (I suppose).

Elevator was slow. I had hair in my towels and walls a VERY thin

Very basic hotel, room was clean, bed comfortable, all staff helpful. Toast and coffee offered every day in the lobby of table and chairs.
