MainStay Suites Salt Lake City Fort Union

Overall good, staff was friendly and always welcomed us or told us to have a good day when we left. Nitpicking the small things though, the Door handle wouldn’t open, we had to push our whole weight to bust it open. Ceiling leaking down the hallway. Toilets clog easily. Showerhead small and sprays. Despite these things, it was a nice stay but if you are picky then maybe not the best place to stay.

This is our third or fourth year that we stayed at mainstay suites. We stay here for the proximity to Snowbird ski resort in the amenities within a mile or so of the hotel. Lots of restaurants shopping, etc. 1 mile away is Whole Foods. This hotel is a long-term stay property so we usually buy groceries For some snacks and breakfast in the morning. They do allow pets and the last two nights at the hotel a very large dog German Shepherd was barking pretty regularly on third floor. The staff are friendly. But they do not provide any hotel service if you’re staying at the hotel for less than seven days which we think it was a mistake. You have to go downstairs to get any towels, TP, soap, shampoo. Also bring your own hairdryer so you don’t have to borrow one from the front desk which requires signing and sign out. Given that there’s a lot of snow in the area during the winter, it is understandable there be a few stains on the carpet in the hallway. But honestly, this property is really long in the tooth. Thankfully, the bed was a little bit warmer than last year‘s bed. Well, we appreciate the pricing that we received via Expedia 89 and $99 a night depending on the days we stayed, will probably be looking for a new hotel going forward. There’s a few within a half a mile of the area that are equally as convenient, but are going to be a much better condition and less rough around the edges. I’m also pretty convinced that there were some people that were being boarded up long-term.

I love staying here. I love the full size fridge and a cook top. Trader Joe’s and target are within walking distance to get food to cook. There’s many restaurants around. The beds are comfortable and the showers are great. I gave it a 4 star due to dog hair still all over after cleaning. They need to have pet only and non pet rooms available. Also, you have to ask for a hair dryer, one day they were all out so I couldn’t wash my hair. Overall I really liked the place, we saved so much money on our ski trip. We will stay there again.

Clean place, with Continental breakfast. Very nice location. Across the street from target and other shopping centers.

The room was dirty. Toilet started to back up. I tried to call and phone wouldn't work. I went downstairs and the lady behind the desk handed me a plunger. I had to plunge the toilet. Lucky i know what to do. Shower head was coming off.

Property is not very clean or well maintained. Refrigerator/freezer smelled terrible and made loud noise when turned on. On the positive side, location is conveniently located along ski bus routes.

Honest review: there's a lot that's great about this property, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The location is excellent and close to all amenities and not a bad drive to the ski hills up the canyon. The downside is that the common areas, hallways etc...are very dirty, there was an active leak coming down from the 3rd floor onto the 2nd floor in the hallway during the final days of my stay. The property accommodates people that are staying more long term and can make for an interesting dynamic of short term visitors and long term tenants. Overall I really enjoyed it, but I can see how it may not be for everyone.

I asked if I could check in early. They told me it was not possible & even an early check in being 12 which isnt too early at all. No refund or nothing just a waste of my money and time. Thanks for nothing at all. Oh and maybe respond to messages every now & again? It might help your rating but probably not by much.

One of two very affordable places near the Family Center, Ft. Union. Condition and service was better. Has a large fridge, good cable TV. Right in the middle of all kinds of shopping and restaurants. Would book again.

The hallway need carpets cleaned, halls don't smell very clean. The parking lot was awful, huge hole right out front. The kitchen floors in suites were not cleaned. Nasty note stuffed under the door on the ground as I walked in...probably for the previous long-term guest. Just not what you want to read getting ready to stay the night. No breakfast, coffee was good though and real creamer was a plus.

The rooms were quite adequate and clean, BUT there are many dogs in the building that do bark and cigarette smokers who are 'supposed to' smoke outside. Secondly, on Monday morning...no running water

The staff was helpful and friendly. I appreciated their help in fixing the coffee pot and providing coffee pods when asked. Since I was there less than a week, there was no cleaning or automatic replenishing of supplies.

smelled awful! and our door didn’t even lock! felt so unsafe bad had to switch hotels the same night we got there!

There was a terrible smell on the 3rd floor. It smelled like dogs had been defecating in the rooms for some time. The dogs also barked all night.

Did not feel very safe staying at this property. Should have realized when pulling up. People up all hours of the night. Loud. Sink would not drain in the bathroom. Checked in key didn’t work when I made it to my room. Paper thin walls hearing everything. Booked two nights didn’t even stay the second. Refused to provide a refund. Highly recommend spending a little more to stay somewhere else.
