This was an awesome stay. I’ve stayed here once before, and was so glad I had the same good experience. Staff was super friendly, room was super great and cozy. Clean, updated and in a GREAT location. I can’t recommend this place enough, it was extremely walkable and the parking was awesome.

Liked the historic building and mission furnishings, spacious rooms, breakfast, and proximity to pier and old Monterey landmarks. On-site parking wasn’t a problem, perhaps because it was winter and our car is compact.

One of the finest hotels that we have experienced in Monterey. Everything about this hotel is “Top Notch!” Thanks to the entire hotel staff for an outstanding experience. This was our 2nd time at this location. Looking forward to our next visit.

We love Merritt House! Lovely front desk employees welcome you, and the property is so compact and beautifully landscaped. Once we found our room, we were delighted by the decor, and especially the very updated carpet and shower. The bed was sooo comfortable and we slept wonderfully. It was a relaxing New Years Eve and we loved every minute of our trip. Also, it's so handy that it's close to many fabulous restaurants that are in walking distance. Thank you, Merritt House!

The woman working the lobby was kind, cheerful and very accommodating. The property itself it a little old fashioned- areas of it are darling while other parts feel a bit sketch. Very convenient location to shops and restaurants, many with in walking distance.

My wife and I stayed for a few nights and we really enjoyed our time. The staff is super nice and helpful the rooms are really neat and has a charm and character. The location is so nice and convenient within walking distance to fisherman’s wharf and the down town area. Although it is very centrally located there is a certain awe to an almost hidden driveway that takes you away from the business.

Property is beautiful! Being it was a street or 2 over from downtown, the area was pretty quiet, the grounds were very peaceful. Staff were all friendly & super attentive & helpful. Our room was newly renovated & super clean. Low pile carpet & vinyl wood flooring, high ceilings, fireplace, desk, new fixtures, small hall ceiling fan, doors to a shared back balcony w table & chairs faced the pretty cottage grounds. Parking is in the back under rooms, is tight for our truck but found a gd spot that worked just fine. Absolutely no complaints. We loved our weekend stay!

Was walking distance to Old Fisherman's Warf. Pretty spot. Breakfast was very basic. Felt like a cute B&B. Parking was expensive. BIGGEST complaint was the bed. It was an old spring mattress that had to be at least 20 years old. ROCK HARD mattress. KILLED my back. I brought up my concern to the front desk the first morning after, and the sweet girl offered for us to switch rooms. I checked out the bed in the other room HOPING it had a softer bed, but it didn't so we didn't switch. Had to go to Walgreens for ibuprofen and IcyHot to be able to endure the following 3 nights. If you have a bad back, these beds are NOT for you! They need to be replaced!
