Royal Inn Clearfield

This time there was a stink in the room that was subtle but still unpleasant. The shower could use some rehab. (Black grout.)

NIce place for the price. Good people.

On my way to somewhere else. The Wi-Fi worked as did all the tv stations. The room was dated but clean which really what matters most. The young woman at the desk is very polite and friendly

For today's prices the room is a good deal. I would stay there again. It's definitely a "you get what you pay for" situation. But for me it was clean enough, and comfortable enough considering the price. That said, the non-smoking room smelled like smoke (probably weed) and some things were a bit old like the caulking in the shower and the torn lampshade. The mirror had not been cleaned and had a big splatter on it. But that didn't bother me that much.

The stay is cheap, and you get what you pay for, but be aware that the shower walls have mildew in the edges and nails used in a few spots to hold in place, no silicone over nails or nail holes, so water is getting behind the walls. Floor looks like they attempted an update for the first part, then gave up and left gaps between new flooring and old floor still in place. And this is 2024, and not 1 single usb in sight, being your own.

We looking for cheap night to sleep and the Royal Inn delivered. Decent bang for your buck… just keep in mind what your are paying. Basics were all good - clean, quiet (for us), and a place to stop for the night.

We had an emergent situation and needed last minute lodging. Decently locate from Beaver Stadium. The motel is 2 stars and that’s a big stretch. Very dated decor. The bed was hard. Pillows “shady” and not comfortable. Bed linen smelled like unwashed “bodies”. Phone was dead. TV channels not working. Deadbolt broken. If I had another urgent situation I still would not stay here. Mandy was a very nice and helpful front desk attendant though.

Whoever rated this 3 stars should be ashamed. You can only clean stained outdated facilities so much. Dingy and old. Girl at desk sweet. Man cleaning nice. That was it. Toilet did not flush properly. Flies in room. No other availability or would have left. Very disappointed and surprised given the overall rating.

Came in and found roaches running all over the place. We hwere given roach spray to keep in the room if we needed it. Wont stay again

The first room we got had bugs in it . Second room wasn’t as bad bedding had burn holes in it . Wasn’t very clean. I wouldn’t stay here again .

very smoky in non-smoking room, charge fees for late check in which is not mentioned in expedia, charge fees for additional towels etc.... Not recommend at all.

Worst room & service EVER!! After a four hour drive to Clearfield we arrived at the “Royal” Inn about 9:00 pm & checked in. Went to our room as soon as we opened the door and the odor of a 2 pack a day chain smoker hit you! My wife and I are former smokers but the room just stank! There was no way we could have slept in that room. We returned to the desk and we told the room didn’t smell like smoke. The manager said they did have an emergency room but it was more money and asked if we could afford it (what audacity) he wouldn’t show us the room until we paid a the higher price. After our first experience this motel was not getting another dime out of us if we couldn’t check out the replacement room. We demanded our money back and were told that since we booked it through Expedia they wouldn’t refund us. So we left and went to the Holiday Inn Express in Clearfield and rented a room 3 times the price & it was worth every penny. We called Expedia the next day and they told us the Royal Inn had to approve the refund. The Royal Inn wouldn’t approve it and said we wouldn’t accept the emergency room because it cost more. We then spoke with a manager at Expedia who called the hotel again to try to get our refund approved. The Royal Inn then told them we didn’t complain about a smoke smell, we complained about a fly in the room. Such LIARS!!! Expedia offered a $50 credit for the trouble. BS!! Our advice to anyone considering staying at this dump, avoid it like the plague.

This hotel was disgustingly dirty! Pillows were filthy! We booked another clean hotel and left!

Old school mom and pop hotel. Large room, comfy bed, hot shower with great water pressure, great wi-fi. Lots of channels on tv, fridge and microwave. Have stayed before amd will stay again.

My only real complaint is I was given a smoking room (complete with cigarette butt in toilet). I actually changed my booking for this weekend to a place an hour away since I saw my booked room had the same description (quadruple deluxe something or other, non smoking) and figured I’d get the same one! That said, props to the gal working the front desk who also seems to do everything else, which ain’t easy especially on the PSU home football weekends. Beyond that this motel is what you’d expect it to be and is a very good value. I’ll be back soon.

Video doorbell in office for checkin. No one answered for close to 10 minutes. After check-in we had no toilet paper and no power cord for the tv. Repeatedly called the office with no answer. A permanent resident next door knew how to reach the management so he called to get toilet paper.

We stay here every year. Very clean quaint affordable motel with very nice restaraunt right across the way. However this year there were no drinking cups with the ice bucket. The charming round table that goes with the chairs is missing. And one chair worn clear through to stuffing. I know the saying is you get what you pay for but really???
