I whatsapped the travel agent a week before the trip to get information. They told me they would send me details one day before the trip. The day before they asked me what meals we wanted, sent me a meetup location and the whatsapp of the person in charge at the port. The location they sent me was an abandonned food court, 300m or so away from the port. We thought that was strange, so we contacted the person in charge at the port to give us a meetup time and location. He told us to be there at 5:45am, but did not give a location. So the next day at 5:45 we waited at the main port. He showed up at 6am and did not even introduce himself. We had to ask around to find him. Overall , communication with the travel agent and the tour manager was very bad, leaving us stressed and worried that we would not catch our boat.
Once on the boat, they asked us for 400k per person to enter Komodo park. This information was not listed on the booking page. Luckily we had just enough cash on us.
The boat was a slow boat. In my opinion, painfully slow. It took us 12 hours to go to 4 locations.
Otherwise the tour itself was very good. Our guide and the crew were very smiley and friendly. There was 15 of us onboard. The food was passable. There was tea and coffee onboard and we were offered a breakfast snack.
Tip : make sure you go in the right season otherwise you risk not seeing any dragons, or any mantas….. my mistake
Second tip : it’s better to book with the tour company directly, rather than book through a travel agent. And pay extra for a speed boat.
