An unbelievable hotel in a declining area of downtown. San Diego like most California ities is on the decline. I grew up here and remember the days of Horton Plaza and the Gaslamp Quarter and its really declined unfortunately. The hotel is fabulous though.

I can not remember when we had a better experience at a hotel. Everyone we encountered smiled and was friendly and helpful. We mentioned it was our anniversary at check in and they upgraded our room for us. The hotel itself is beautiful and impeccably clean. The room was beautiful and spacious and the bed and bedding were cozy and comfortable. The valet team were so helpful and nice. We had dinner in the lounge in the hotel. Dinner and drinks were fantastic and the vibe was cozy and comfortable. I honestly can't wait to book another stay here!

Great service and ambiance but area around the hotel leaves a bit to be desired as many businesses in Gaslamp Quarter have been shuttered -

The area around the hotel was dirty and did not look like the photos due to construction. Overall nice stay and central to all places of interest.

Excellent excellent service! I cannot stress enough how helpful and wonderful the staff was. We were greeted with our doors being opened up by the valet men. The front desk woman was so kind and explained everything so well! We were even helped when we decided to extend our trip! The grant grill breakfast was to die for! The concierge helped us out with things to do and where to go! He even made us a reservation for our dinner! We loved everything about this place too! It was so beautiful inside and the room was absolutely gorgeous and clean! We were treated with the utmost respect and we really appreciate this place!

This is a beautiful and comfortable hotel. The staff was stellar, both in their superlative care for one’s every need and the privacy and space afforded to guests. The bed was so comfortable and my room had everything I needed.

Front desk checked me in super early which was nice as I had to fly in for a one day conference. This allowed me to change clothes in a nice room vs a bathroom. Overall the hotel is beautiful and my room was very nice. Great bed and condition. My only regret is there is no gift shop to buy snacks

Historic. Beautiful property. Lovely staff.

Gates/Doors on the main entrance are blocked, so to check-in you need to enter from the back (no email or instructions are sent to you about it…). Costs for food and services are shamelessly pricey - get ready to be overcharged with hidden and random fees. Oh and beware outside, there are homeless people and others in difficult situations sleeping just around the hotel / park.

First class in every way. The in house restaurant, the Grant Grill is incredible. Everything in the downtown area is within walking distance.

Hotel was nice if we only stayed inside. The neighborhood has gone down. City needs to spruce up the neighborhood so that the hotel can be worth it's room cost.
