I cannot recommend this place enough. The location on top of a cliff is stunning, it was clear that lot of effort was put into the interior design and house style, the breakfast was absolutely phenomenal with many niche and delicious options yet still being small and manageable. The hotel isn't too big and the room was well insulated against noise, so you really get a quiet, secluded North coast experience (not for beach and sun seekers, which fare better on the bustling South coast). The sauna, jacuzzi, and pools were also great, however the sauna and sauna rest area are too small to accommodate the demand in the afternoon when guests return from their activities. The indoor pool area got quite loud and crowded for that same reason. Nevertheless amazing. The restaurant has a beautiful view as well and has many vegetarian options, which is rare on Madeira. Although the food was good I unfortunately don't think it lives up to the more upscale atmosphere and prices, though if you book half pension it may be good value.
The area is difficult to get around without a car, though you can get here from Funchal by bus and get around with Bolt with some waiting time.
