Amazing totally restored hotel with highest quality fit and finishes. Loved the lighting and fireman memorabilia in room. Town has a lot to do and close to beach walk and sunsets.

The property itself was lovely but communication not so good. We did not receive any notification before we arrived of the codes to get into the property I had to phone, not so easy with a uk mobile. On arrival the codes we were given allowed us to enter someone else’s room with all their belongings in situ. Our phones no longer allowed us to make a call so we had to enlist the help of another guest and the shop across the road to make contact with the property. In all fairness someone did then promptly come out to rectify the situation and allocate us another room. But not the start we wanted for our stay. The room was clean and met all of our needs. The property is in the centre of town so close to all shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend the Sandwich Shop on Revel Street.

The Hokitika Fire Station was really a super quirky hotel with just about all of the amenities a family could ask for. We stayed for a night in Jan 2025. The hotel is close to the beach, restaurants, and activities. The fire station has quite a bit of history that's neatly written in the welcome book (please sign the guest book). There is plenty of parking and super convenient free laundry onsite! The sheets and pillows were comfortable and everything was basically 'fresh'. Could not have asked for a better place while there.

Very cool converted fire station with old trucks outside. We reserved a 3 bedroom unit and the place was spotless. Very convenient to walk the town or go to the beach. Glow worm dell was walkable as well, but some of it on a busy street. The only thing I wish it had was a second bathroom as the one we stayed in can fit 6 people. The firefighter statue in the lobby startled us a couple of times when leaving our room at night :)

Best place to stay in Hokitika. Upscale, clean, beautiful, walkable to just about anything in town.

The property was perfect for Fire Engine enthusiasts. We travel in a Dennis SSS and this place was perfect. If I could post a photo of us out the front I would. Thanks

Great spot to stay. Walking distance to beach. Lots of jade shops nearby. We had a nice dinner at Stumpers. We drove to glow worm dell since it was dark and we didn’t want to walk along the road. Only 3 minutes away by car and easy and pretty walk to see the glow worms. Accommodations were nice with great views from Chief McFarland room. Corner room. One side saw mountains and other see town with sliver of the beach. Laundry room downstairs was so helpful midway through the trip. They even have detergent. The dryer takes a while but has a 1 hour quick cycle. It was being used so we dried in the room and it was dry by the morning. I would stay again.

Absolutely well done. It’s so lovely we didn’t want to leave. Nice quiet part of town yet within a block of many eating places, shopping and beach. We used the accessible room with a wheelchair and it was brilliant. Loved all it’s history and fire trucks too.

Amazing accommodation right in the heart of Hokitika. The fire theme is tastefully done, the rooms were immaculately presented, clean and modern. So close to all the cafes, restaurants, shops and beach. If you’re thinking about saying here, go for it. It’s a fun place to stay with kids, our 2 year old loved it.

The place was clean, modern and spacious for a family of 4. The self check in made things even more convenient.

Very cool property to stay. Love the decor and modern industrial features. Only thing that could possibly make the room better was a bathtub to soak in, however the apartment was absolutely lovely. Location was so handy right in town also.
