Great property at a fantastic price, did not experience the spa but it looked amazing.

The breakfast room was good, and well laid out. The bedroom and bathroom were both good clean and tidy. We only spent a night there, and were well impresed with what we used.

Pool spa but you have to pay extra so ask before you book

The hotel is extremely dated and absolutely not worth nearly £300 we paid for our deluxe room. Room was spacious but everything else did not match 4 star hotel mark. Old and dated bathroom, no plug sockets next to bed, no mini fridge in the room and very dark (even during the day) without enough lights in the room to make it bright. The corridor leading to the room had a musky unpleasant smell it was quite overwhelming. The overall hotel staff service was outstanding and very friendly, from the hotel reception to breakfast staff.

Not sure where the 4stars come from heating did not work in the room, the bath was a whirlpool type that was broken and the jet covers on the bath bottom were broken so if you was not careful the exposed pointy jet stabbed the bottom of your feet. Mold all over the shower head. A shame really the main reception is stunning.

Overall we were fairly disappointed with our stay at Shrigley Hall. While some aspects of the hotel clearly receive investment and attention (the spa, restaurant, and golf), the hotel itself had a lot of potential but was disappointing and felt run down. Our room needed some maintenance and deep cleaning; there was mould around the window and the room needed hoovering. Also, the lift was broken for the duration of our stay which made access quite challenging. Some of the staff were incredibly helpful while others had a less positive attitude. It would have been great to have a mini bar in the room, and to have had turndown services included. At one stage we had to request fresh mugs and glasses, and the dirty ones were still not taken away, as well as request our room was freshened up. The restaurant was good overall, while it was inappropriate for the bar to be advertised as a dining option; it was poorly equipped for this. Breakfast was average. This being said, the property setting is breathtaking, and where parts of the hotel which have been attended to with care and attention is very clear. For a hotel marketed as a luxury/4-star spa hotel we expected more and were disappointed.

Very disappointing that you couldnt use the Spa when you booked the hotel, you had to book a separate spa package. The rooms were old and dated and the lift didnt work .....very run down hotel

Really Nice 5* stayed many times.

Food menu in restaurant very good, however room was old, decor tied, wallpaper peeling off wall in room. Dust and cob webs in corner of room. Constant humming from some sort of plant machinery close by room. Shower difficult to turn on and hot and cold controls not in correct position. No hair dryer in room.

Breakfast wasn’t exceptional but everything else was great.

It’s a beautiful building with amazing views. The entrance is very stunning especially for wedding photos. It was however a bit cold in the function room.

Booked the twilight spa 2weeks before coming to be told it’s been booked for 2days later when we wasn’t there meaning we couldn’t use the spa on my partners 40th birthday

Very disappointing, tired hotel in desperate need of modernisation. Poor value for money. Such a shame as the grounds are beautiful.

Beautiful location with wonderful walks. Dog friendly but it felt we were dumped in a really filthy room and I had to request a clean before I would use the shower. No refresh of toilet paper and hand soap after the first night. The breakfast offering was really poor with very poor quality cooked breakfast and no continental option. We had trouble finding staff at breakfast and had to seek them out! So much promise from a fantastic building but clearly needs some investment in the infrastructure, decor and staff!
