Jakarta, 12 July 2021 - In order to support the acceleration of national vaccine distribution, the Health Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI), Port Health Authority-Ministry of Health (KKP-Kemenkes) Soekarno-Hatta, PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II), and Traveloka inaugurated the ‘Vaccination at Airport’ services. Located at Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 in the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Banten, the vaccination center operates every day starting from 12 to 25 July 2021 at 08.00-17.00 WIB, eyeing the general public aged 18 years and above including the senior citizens, without domicile requirements. During the two-week implementation, this vaccination center aims to serve 14,000 vaccine recipients for the first dose. This initiative is one of the public-private partnership initiatives between the government and the private sector to accelerate the establishment of herd immunity, which has become the current government's focus.
Vaccination at Airport program is a joint collaboration within Health Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI), Port Health Authority-Ministry of Health (KKP-Kemenkes) Soekarno-Hatta, PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II), and Traveloka
As we are all aware, Indonesia sees a continuous increase of the COVID-19 cases, especially with the existence of new virus mutations, such as the Delta variant. The data published on 7 July 2021 showed that Indonesia recorded more than 34,000 additional daily cases. Various efforts have been made by the government to lower the spike in positive cases, starting from increasing the testing and tracing effort, adding the wards and ICU capacity in the hospitals, dispatching more medicines and health workers, promoting health protocols to the public, as well as accelerating vaccine distribution.
dr. Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, DHSM. MARS., Acting General Director of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, stated, “One of the government's current priorities in handling the COVID-19 pandemic is to boost the vaccination implementation. Our target is to vaccinate 1-2 million people every day. Therefore, collaboration with various parties is highly needed, such as what was done by the Ministry of Health, KKP, AP II, and Traveloka for this Vaccination at the Airport initiative. We hope this service can help the government in expanding the reach of vaccination efforts and enable Indonesians to conveniently get the COVID-19 vaccination, hence we can reach herd immunity at the earliest possible."
In line with the Ministry of Health, Agus Haryadi, Executive General Manager, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, also highlighted the importance of providing easy access to vaccination for the public. Conducting a vaccination center in the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport area is also considered suitable to cater the needs, given that airports are one of the high-traffic gates for people to come and go. “Airports, as main gateways for people who need to travel to other cities, recorded a large number of daily visitors. Taking this into account, opening vaccination facilities at the airport is expected to make it easier for travelers to protect themselves and other people in their destinations. Not only for travelers, this service is also available for the general public, including people who are living nearby the airport, thus we can spur the establishment of herd immunity in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area. We hope that this joint initiative can further furnish the government’s effort in navigating the pandemic.”
Iko Putera, Director of Transport, Traveloka, mentioned, "The Vaccination at the Airport service is a manifestation of Traveloka's commitment to assist the government in weathering the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. It is an honor for us to gain the trust of the Ministry of Health, KKP, and also AP II to participate in this program, which is in line with our previous initiatives of Traveloka COVID-19 Vaccination Centers in Yogyakarta and South Tangerang. The use of Traveloka’s technology for this program allows the public to easily do online registration, coupled with a well-designed vaccination schedule to avoid crowds on D-Day. As a lifestyle superapp, we believe that bringing innovation and instigating collaboration with various stakeholders are vital for all of us to recover from the pandemic impacts."
People who want to take their COVID-19 vaccination in the airport can register through Traveloka Xperience on the Traveloka app and select their preferred date and time. Traveloka also provides vouchers worth IDR 150,000 for its Airport Transfer product (while it is available), which can be obtained after completing the registration. With this additional perk, Traveloka hopes that people could easily come to the vaccination location at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport or vice versa.
In addition to this effort, people are also encouraged to consistently retain their immune system, stay at home if there are no urgent needs, and comply with health protocols, both those who have been vaccinated and have yet to get their vaccination.
